Can anyone recommend some good (and hopefully not expensive) track / layout planning software that I could run on my MacBook Pro?
Thanks in advance!
Rob
Rob,
Are you able to run Boot Camp? If so, there's SCARM, available from Mixy, a member here at Big Blue.
I don't know enough about OSX and other operating systems to know if there are other ways to run Win stuff...
Andrew
Thanks, Andrew! SCARM looks great but I haven't run Bootcamp before. Does it take up much hard drive space or is it complicated to use?

I'm having some success with a free demo version of Empire Express (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.haddonsoftware.com/download.html">http://www.haddonsoftware.com/download.html</a><!-- m -->). It downloaded easily and seems quite intuitive to use. Playing around with it now. Just FYI! Cheers, Rob
Empire express is something I've used too. It is however not as feature rich as some of the other ones, but for basic planning it is quite sufficient.
Anotherone you may want to look at is the opensource Xtrackcad, althought the Mac install is a bit tedious for some obscure reason, but it works.

Yet anotherone is Railmodeller Pro. This one is available from the app store. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.railmodeller.com/home-railmodeller.html">http://www.railmodeller.com/home-railmodeller.html</a><!-- m -->
Hope this helps.

Thanks! I've been looking into these. I tried Railmodeller but gave up for some reason but I'll try again this week.
