It sure has been a long time since we had a challenge. Is there anyone else out there that would be interested in participating in some sort of challenge?

Anyone have an idea on what type of challenge we should do?
Well we have never done a locomotive challenge.

I've got one in-progress Goldth ....and another nine awaiting some ambition on my part. Crazy

Depending on the challenge , yes I would be interested .
Yes, this should be a good idea!
Maybe that my engine projects can not be appreciated but I would like to see your scratchbuilt and modified models. Let's start this challenge!
We have been a bit hesitant to start a new challenge based on the response we've had with the last few. We didn't get that many participants, and those that did start, there weren't enough that finished to even hold a vote. Even our daily posting has fallen off, not unlike other forums, be it railroading or knitting, it just seems to be the trend on the Internet. Forum posting is down while Facebook and other social media posting is way up, making some people billionaires. I just wonder what the next trend will be, I don't know for sure, but we still have a loyal base of posters here and some days it shows that there's still hope.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't have a challenge, I just hope that if we do, it's one that will gain enough interest that it's a fun one and that we are able to see it through. I'm sure Mikey and myself would welcome starting a new challenge, so let's hear from anyone else that thinks they would participate in one, and if there are any more suggestions as to what the challenge should be.
How about a "kick in the pants" challenge: get a long deferred project, or one that's been stalled for too long, back on the do-something part of your workbench. This could include just about anything: rolling stock, locomotives, structures, scenery, layout work, etc. The work could be a major project or simply tidying up the final details of something not-quite-done. Most of us have something that would fit in this category, so it would offer a chance for lots of entrants and a varying range of skills.

Don , I'm not surprised at your numbers findings . Myself , I don't post much on forums although I do look in here a few times each day . I do like various Facebook Groups although that venue does have it's limitations . I do like the specialized topics that FB groups offer , though and I'm on about 10 railroad related groups , some modelling , some old time 1:1 scale .

How about a "get them rolling" challenge. You can either start a new project or finish one that has been sitting around. The only requirement would be that it has some sort of wheel(s). So it could be a locomotive, rolling stock, vehicle, boat or even a building, think water wheel.

What else do we have out there?

These are good suggestions. I think we did something like a "get off your duff" challenge sometime back and it was a good one. Take something that you've started and get off your butt and finish it. It didn't matter what it was. There's no reason why we can't do something like it again.... A rolling challenge sounds doable as well....
I'm good with that ....several untouched projects on the shelf as well as a few shelf orphans Goldth
My project would be picking a project.
GEC,

Well if there was no limit on projects you could just do them all...
....yeah , sounds good but you won't !! Icon_lol

Yeah, but sometimes getting just one finished can inspire you to also start on another one (to perhaps be finished in the next challenge?). Crazy Misngth Misngth
