I am building the station that was in Mauston Wisconsin in the 1950'sHere is a picture of it from 1912.



The only difference from the 1912 version to the 1950's version is the right side door on the end was changed to a window. The structure will be a basswood box with Rusty Stumps brick sheet added to the outside. I also will shorten the length of the building by 12 feet so it will fit the area I have for it. Here are the end and side walls cut from 1/16 thick basswood sheet.

After laying out the door and window openings I cut them out.



then I did all the bracing on the inside using 3/16 sq. basswood.



now to paint the inside black.

Nice work so far. I'm impressed by you surface plate that you are assembling the walls on. You must have quite the sturdy workbench for that block!

Thanks for stopping in Glen, I've had this surface plate for over 30 years. It goes back to my tool and die maker days. It's one foot square and weighs about 60 pounds.

I painted the inside black and gave the sheet of brick a coat of white. The paint helps keep the bricks from falling off when cutting. The next step is to get the brick sheet on the walls. Sorry no picture, I didn't think it was exciting enough.

I painted the brick sheet white and stuck it on the wall sections.



now to recut the openings.

Openings are all recut.

The wall sections have been assembled.

Bump out all built.

Window and door headers and sills are on.

All the doors and windows are in.

Glass all in and added some shades.

I have said it before and I will say it again, the way you approach your projects and layout are inspiring. I wish I had the patience and focus that you do as you tackle each project and your layout.
