Last year in the Fall I started the new downsized layout, the previous layout was too big and overwhelming. I hope to do some nice scenery with lots of bridges and a couple of water scenes. Most of my old rather large structures were given away locally as I found they just weren't doing the old layout any justice and so I will be spending the next probably couple years building new smaller structures.
So to start this is the track plan, and upto date construction, I just did a session with the backdrop painting

Looking like your off to a good start. Thumbsup I've been doing some resizing my self. The N scale layout is about a third of the size it was originally, but the Z layout has been enlarged and wall mounted.I now have room for the HO switching layout that I probably will never build. But I'm having fun.
Thanks Catt, yes I have already spent some time testing the rails but it has been slow going and will continue to move along slowly. Not really sure what the next move will be.
Backdrop looks real good Lynn

Cheers
Thanks Andy , I still have to paint in some trees but I think I will wait until I figure out scenery but right now I'm thinking of doing a tunnel Cheers
Tunnels are always fun! Scenery looks good so far Thumbsup

Totally agree and also needs to be thought out well. Cheers
Looks like you're off to a good start, and your plan looks good! Thumbsup
Hi Lynn,

Have you made any progress on the layout?

Take care,
Rob.
Hi Rob hope everything is going well out on the East Coast, no real progress made with so much other stuff going on. Basicly getting a feel for the landforms here and there, I have a few days off now and hope to inch forward a bit.
Thanks
Lynn
Don't know why there's a turntable since the tracks allow trains & locos to change any direction. Use those spurs for industries e switched. But if you really want one put it where you can have a roundhouse.
Also, the plan doesn't have a yard or interchange. If you're like most of us you'll have more cars than places on the layout to spot them. If that water area on top is a port put a car float there.

Yes I agree with purpose of turntable, I've had the scene before and seeing as I still have the TT , I want to incorporate it again without a Roundhouse. You will notice the way the tracks leave the TT back out onto mainline. I may add a few tracks between the TT exit rails for holding a few cars.
Great work on the backdrop Lynn!
Thanks Mike, its actually quite enjoyable to do.
