I'm planning a structure build for Piedmont Blues, and am starting with a small Clevermodels kit - in this case the Brick Garage with Loft - and changing it into something totally different.

The idea is to use Clevermodels textures for the brickwork, and the roof, which will be sheet metal. The rest will be made from card and wood.

At least, that's the plan!

I'm not sure what industry this could be, though it wont be a rail served structure. The layout is set in 1965 - any suggestions on what it could be would be most appreciated. Smile

The idea is that the original garage structure has been built on top of, the roof removed and a new, flat work area with an enclosed staircase up to both it, and the timber and clapboard tower structure.

I intend to build the structure in the way it would have actually have been built in "reality".

So, the garage structure will take centre stage at the beginning of the build. On top of that, I'll add timber cross beams, and build upwards from there.

I'll post progress photos as and how it goes. Smile

what is the bucket on a rope doing? It seems to start on the second storey floor; how does stuff get up to it?
I made a crane beam like that from a Chooch models platform crane' I just snipped off the vertical post leaving the beam, plus the pulleys and such. OOPS, just noticed the O scale.

Nice work on the crane there, I was toying with the idea of having the building be rail served after all, and have stairs leading down to a loading dock coming from the platform on the garage roof. If that doesn't happen, I'll be seating a jig crane on the platform instead. Smile

Progress! Big Grin

The basic shell is coming together nicely.

The garage itself is made from a core of artists mounting board - great stuff - and wrapped in the Clevermodels kit textures. I'm going to be having the doors/windows closed on the bottom floor, so the white interior won't matter. Smile

The rest of the structure is made up of 1/36" basswood strip, and basswood sheet with planks enscribed on one side.
I realised today that I've not actually updated this thread in a while!

Progress has been slow, granted, but this is as far as I've gotten to date:

Further progress to come...
Yesterday's progress on the garage/tower building.

Today I'm going to be building a few boxcar kits, so I'm not sure if I'll get any more progress done on the structure for a little while.
