I am surprised it didn't say "It is not clear when the alleged accident occurred"
I read better news in my 6th grade paper.
I've heard the reporter saying something like, "a deceased body was found near.....", do they not realize that is redundant?
Just tonight they showed a rescue of "a man that
almost fell 100 feet".... If he "almost fell", why did he need to be rescued? The story really showed that he fell almost 100 feet down an embankment.
When listening to reporters, always try to remember that most times they are reading a script on a teleprompter.
The writer is trying to maintain and/or improve ratings by inserting adjectives and descriptions to raise the drama of any situation.
As to reading what they have written, I cringe whenever there is a misspelling on the crawl at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the word is a real word, but you know from the context that it's supposed to be something else.
Hear TV "snooze" people using the wrong words all the time. It's like they don't even hear what they are really saying or understand it. >}
One of my all time favorites from a live report.
A shootout between Police and a burglar left the alleged gunman dead and a officer wounded. The unidentified gunman open fire on Police yada, yada blah, blah..
Sounded like double talk to me since there is no " alleged " to it.
These things remind me of a radio broadcast blooper reel.
Here in UK, Essex girls are reckoned to be amongst the most stoopid - but this guy takes the $64,000 prize! https://www.facebook.com/VerySeriousCon ... 197807404/
