... on its way for finishing!

Long time, near to ten years, this old coal tower project waited for continuing.



This was the last condition as a friend sold his US-modules with a planned steam loco museum and changed to British modeling. With this the need of finishing the coal tower was lost.
But now, some months ago our friend's group of US modelers here in the area could acquire these modules and the former station awake now to new life including the railroad museum with the coal tower. The work could start again! And here are some pictures of progress.

The roof tiler are on work and they are short for finishing. However that's not the end of this project!



This is an older view on our station Shelbyville with the railroad museum. Now a new modele is added for lengthened the station and museum and you see the free area on background where the coaltower will obtain its place for the steam locos which will be in service with historic tourist trains. A water tower will be added yet and so a whole fleet of steam locos can run also in combination with modern traction.

Good progress with my wooden coal tower in last days! All the towers received a shingle roofing and I added the last missing "building" - a very crude "tool house shed" under the sand tower and exactly that what the description has recommended. Realy, a very different to all the other parts!
And that should become a part of a model railroad museum?



What do you mean? Should I give this shed a more friendly look, a more fitting surface to the other parts of tower? I'm very interested to read your opinion! Thanks!

Three days ago I finished my coal tower and I have added yet a water tower - all parts forthe railway museum on modules of our US modeling friends circle.



You can see the small back-slope tender on background as the next really small digitalizing project of an old Rivarossi B&O C16a which ought to run on the large modular layout of next exhibition in January 2018. I hope for finishing until that event!

Hello Bernhard---I have missed your posts.Your coaling and water towers are works of art that will look wonderful together with your outstanding locomotives and rolling stock---hopefully we'll see lots more pictures in the new year.My best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas and hopes for peace on earth.

In last days I made yet a correction at power unit of coal hoist because there was an possibility for a wrong turning direction of rope drum if the hoist did not reach the lower end on its way to lower end position. The rope drum and the suspension of coal basket can be damaged in such a seldom case. Now I hope for a well working coal tower also while a longer use about three days on ourexhibition. Until that I will try to run it some hours on my work table.
Thanks again for all your interest and comments and I hope that all will work now after additional four weeks of changes and repairs. Too many time where my own preparations with my own steam engines and some cars were delayed again.
