Morning.  Buddy from Cerritos CA coming in today.  We will go train riding tomorrow.  Farms Sat.  Sunny and LOW humidity.  got grass mowed when a stray shower hit as I got in the house.  Un-guessed by guessers.

Have a good onel.
Good morning all, seems like we're all getting surprise showers. No rain in the forecast for yesterday, although one TV gal gave us the, "I told you so" thing. Really proud that she guessed that it could rain. Yup, we got a really good storm last night, ripped up trees and roofs on the east side, and we got a nice soaking here on the west side. Today, temps low, but humidity and dew points are all high. No rain in the forecast until Sunday, but who knows, maybe another, "I told you so" day today....
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy at the moment but the sun will make an appearance later this morning and push the temperature up to the mid 70s. Right now it's a chilly 52. Sunrise this morning was very orange and almost red. Very pretty.

Got the laundry caught up yesterday and went for a bike ride. Thursday evening group was the usual silliness. Only item on the to do list for today is to get a haircut.

Gas price yesterday afternoon was $2.23.9 Very surprising for a holiday weekend.

All stay safe.

Tom
Morning.  Don Baker from Cerritos CA [drove his El Camino] is here.  Going to Civil War battlegrounds.  Last major battle is clsoe to here.

Have a good one.
Good morning everyone. The news says that gas prices are dropping. They missed the memo here because prices are on the rise. I saw a major brand this morning at $2.999, others have jumped up to $2.899. Not sure if this is a holiday thing, or they're doing it because they can.

No rain yesterday, but some in the forecast for the coming week. So far, we're around 3.5" for the year.

Ya all have a safe and fun holiday weekend....
We filled up today at 104.9/liter. On the way home we saw a station at 118.9/l.  (Liter is a generous quart). so that's a difference of about 56 cents a gallon. And one government is trying to make hay over the other government's tax of 4.4 cents/l.

We had a ride on the local train today -- Riverside Express in Riverside Park. 3 times around the loop, but the seats were just big enough for us to sit side by side.
College foot ball is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 57 here in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. High for today is supposed to be in the upper 60s with a 40% chance of light rain. A quick check of local radar shows the rain will probably go to the south of me.

Went for a 10 mile bike ride and got a haircut. That's about the only activity for yesterday. Got a letter in the mail yesterday that the house insurance company that I've had since I moved here 39 years ago is pulling out of the Iowa market. I'll need to find a new insurance company. Gas price is down to $2.21.9.

Only thing on the agenda for today is Football at 11.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning everyone, very hot yesterday, starting a cool-down trend. How cool? Depends on whose forecast you're looking at. One thing they do agree on is a chance of rain tomorrow, but again, from there on they're not on the same page.

Tried to update Windows 10 on a machine that I haven't used for a while. This machine that I'm on now got updated a few days ago to 1903 without a hitch. This other one though said I needed to update to 1803 first. Got the download, got the "updating at 27%", then it tried to reboot which is normal during a major update. However, a continuous reboot, shutdown, reboot, shutdown loop is not. I couldn't even get it to start in the "safe mode", so at this point, that machine is just a huge paperweight. Got some work to do I guess... Icon_cry
I have a crazy story for you
I bought about two years ago a simple arm-wristwatch that is easy to read without glasses. Let's call it "watch#1"

watch#1 lagged some time about two month ago and needed to be replaced. I visited lots of local shops to get the same easy to read watch but could not find it but I found it at Amazone. I ordered one and watch#2 arrived. From that moment was watch#1 running perfect...
We went to a one week vacation and watch#2 failed at the last day.
I noticed at home that watch#1 was failing again too.
I ordered a similar watch#3 from Amazone. The watch was to be delivered Friday/yesterday between 6-8pm. I got an email at 3pm the delivery was not possible by some technical problems. I could not wait for an alternate delivery date next week because we will start another vacation on Tuesday.
We went to a local shopping center and bought two watch#4 and watch#5. Both low cost but easy to read.
At about 7pm was watch#4 lagging an hour.
We went to the same shopping center and returned watch #4 and got a new watch #6.
At about 10pm did I notice watch#5 and watch#6 are lagging between 30 minutes and an hour.

Summary:
Six watches failed or could not be delivered
I have to return to the shopping center on Monday again to return two more failing watches.

I will fly on vacation with my old divers watch that did never fail!
Greetings, gang.

Partly cloudy and 54 at the moment with a predicted high in the upper 70s.

Quiet day yesterday. Watch football and had a good time texting with my sons during and after. Only thing on the agenda for today is a bike ride and maybe mow the yard. F1 race at 8. Still waiting for my newspaper. Last Sunday I had to call to get it delivered.

Reinhard - sounds like you bought into a bad batch of watches. I have a nice one here on my desk I'm trying to get open to replace the battery. Beautiful watch made by Original Grain but nothing but clutter until I can get it open.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good afternoon all. Kinda cloudy this morning, suppose to have a 30% chance of rain today and tomorrow. Only time will tell.

Been working on my other computer, seems as if the boot sector is gone on the HD. Finding that I can get a whole refurbished machine for not much more than a HD and I don't have to go through getting Windows 10 on it like I would if I just replaced the HD. Like my son said, that would be fine if I wanted another project to work on...... Nope
Both defect watches to be returned to the store this morning decided to stay and do their job. There might be a technical explanation but ......
Happy Labor Day, gang.

Cloudy and 66 at the moment and the clouds are expected to remain with the temp going to the low 80s.

Finally got my full bike ride in for the first time this summer. 16 miles and by the time I got done my body was complaining. Thanks to the miracles of modern medicine those complaints were quickly silenced. Not much else happened around here yesterday and today looks to be the same. Need to mow the yard but no urgency yet. Acorns are starting to fall around here.

All stay safe.

Tom
Morning.  Sunny and rather warm.  I'm saying storms will stay at sea.  Skirt NC coast.

Been having fun taking Don Baker from CA around.  Went to Bentonville Civil War Battlegrounds.  Saturday, carried him to the farms to see lots of peanuts.  Then to the farmer's facility processing tobacco.  Yesterday, to Will Allen's Duck Under layout.  Had fun.

Now goofing off.

Have a good one.
Good morning, and a happy and peaceful Labor Day to you all.

Sounds like fun Frank, a well deserved break for you.

Rain, what stinkin' rain? A few pockmarks on our windshield, but that's it for yesterday's 30% chance. Today, anywhere from 0% to 30% depending on where you get your data.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those along the east coast in hopes that hurricane Dorian goes further out into the Atlantic and weakens.

Giving up on that computer, cannot repair the boot sector. Just glad it went when it did before I loaded everything on it and started to use it. Ordered a refurb HP with 8 gig memory, 1 TB hard drive and Win10 pro from Walmart. Best price and easy to return if it doesn't work.
