Good morning everyone, it could get below 100 today, quite a difference from the past few days, nay, past few months is more accurate. We're very close to the fist day of fall and we just might be past the 110+ temps for the year.

Been taking my "quarantine" time to load up a computer that I bought around six months ago. Just about ready to make the switch, been lots of fun  Nope getting all my programs set back up and all my passwords re-entered. Have you ever have a setting that was buried deep somewhere, or had some obscure name? I found lots of them, even had one that wasn't on any menu and required you to enter something into the "run" box before it came up. I only found it by accident doing an Internet search. They must think they're clever doing things that way, gives them the sense of power. Crazy

I see where someone's "gender reveal" party got out of hand in California, setting off a wildfire and going to cost them plenty. Eek I can't for the life of me understand why people can't just tell everyone that it's a boy or girl, why all the theatrics? I remember when we had ours, we didn't know until a few seconds after birth and even if we did know ahead of time, back then, a few phone calls would have been sufficient to let everyone else know.
Hello Blue
Yea I know this generation has gone Coo-Coo crazy.
Yesterday was near 80. Today it's dark rainy and 54 degrees.
We spent the holiday at home but did do the daughters on Sunday.

Good morning folks

It is an increasingly muggy 76 on its way to an even muggier 85.

Had an interesting holiday weekend. The wood planter we had on the front patio decided to collapse on Saturday. It had been damaged slightly when Isaias destroyed the pergola. I thought I had strengthened and supported enough to make until the fall but apparently not. My wife and I transplanted the plants into pots. I cleared the remaining soil. I put the pieces away in the garage. Next year I am not relying on the tongue and groove. I am going with screws and glue.

Started working on the master bedroom wall. We had it painted last fall before we discovered how bad the mortar was. We got blistering in the new paint. That is when we knew we had to get the house repointed which was finished in February. I scrapped and plastered a few spots. It is going to take me some time to get this done as my back will only allow so much.

I did get modeling in. I finished weathering seven reefers. I am working on seven more. I also built six more reefers. It should have been seven, but a Walthers Lackawanna 40 FT wood reefer kit was missing the underframe, trucks, and wheels.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Morning.  Visit to dentist for cleaning was good.  Not too long and "Mr. Frank, you are doping a good job."  80 degrees and less humidity.  Changing by this afternoon as tropical low coming inland.  Canceled trip to farms.  60% or more chance of rain tomorrow and Thursday.  Next Monday now.

Not much on agenda today.  Got a few little things to do.  Will slowly think about them and maybe check them of the list.

Agenda reveal causes big CA fire.  Frankie and Lea told us but had a thingy to tell everyone.  Cupcakes with blue in the middle of the cake part.  A lot safer.

Hope all are OK.
Rifle buddy sent me this.  I think it is one of the CA fires.  No train will go over this gorge for some time.

We just heard from a friend that her gender reveal party was somewhat ruined by her husband. He had a bit too much alcohol the week before the party and told her parents it's going to be a boy Smile Smile

He's in a bit of trouble, but he'll get over it.....eventually
My nephew's (now) wife refused to tell the sex (gender is a grammar concept) of her first and was upset that the nurse taking it to the nursery put a pink cap on her.
Tom: I bought some kits from an estate sale at our club show. Found when I looked at them that the boxes only had sprues and directions. Just a note for those looking after someone else's stuff.
Had to wear a coat for today's walk. And carry a brolly.
Good morning all, I'll be between a rock and a hard place if I don't get my Covid19 test results back today. I'm in quarantine, suppose to see my wife tomorrow, but only after the test comes back. I've got appointments this week and that would break my quarantine and put me back to starting all over with yet another test and another quarantine. I know they need rules to keep from spreading the virus, but when I'm dressed in full PPE gear and sitting 6' away, I'm not sure she'll even know who is visiting her.

I do see where the originator of the "gender reveal" party is now saying, "STOP, they're getting out of hand". It can only be a boy or a girl, and that should only be significant to the new parents anyway. A border patrol agent was arrested and charged here in Arizona for the damage his reveal party caused. 35 35 35

Monday's temps, 114, today's temps maybe won't even reach 90, windy but no rain. How's that for crazy weather?
Good morning folks

It is73 going to 81. One weather guesser says partly cloudy. The girl on Channel 6 says spotty showers. They have no clue. Right now, it looks like it could rain.

I test ran a used Proto 2000 AMTRAK E8/9A I got for a good price. It looks like it has been run some, but it performed well. Passed all the tests. Even pulled 14 reefers with no problem. My only complaint is one I always seem to have about Proto 2000; the coupler pockets. They are a (blanky blanky) to add Kadee couplers.

I also ran the Proto 2000 Reading F7A and F7B pulling 14 reefers. They did well.

David, I know what you mean. The Lackawanna reefer was disappointing because the seller said it was complete. I am not going to completely fault the seller because he did not appear to know model trains. I recently bought several MDC/Roundhouse express reefer kits. The person sold them in pairs. One pair one of the cars was missing trucks. I didn’t care because I was after its partner and the price was right. The seller listed the fact that one was missing the trucks. Many of the reefers Iam weathering now came from an estate. I scored 21 reefers and boxcars. They were MDC/Roundhouse, Athearn blue box, and Walthers kits. All but two were built. The built cars were proper weight, and Kadee couplers but had plastic wheels. With shipping and taxes, the price came to around $9.00 a car.

I may work on the bedroom wall some. Not sure as my back is bothering me pretty good today.

I plan on trying to continue weathering the reefers.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

Rain and 45 this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. the high for today is supposed to be around 50 with more rain. So far an inch and a half in the last 24 hours. Very much needed around here. I did click on the furnace for a while this morning. Downright chilly in the house today.

Pretty quiet day yesterday. I did go for a walk in the rain yesterday afternoon. Chilly but otherwise enjoyable. This morning I'm head to Walmart and the grocery store. This afternoon I need to fill out the paperwork for my evaluation visit tomorrow. The shoulder is inconsistent. Sometimes I hardly feel it. Other times I have to pick up my right hand with my left had because it hurts too much to move on its own. Hopefully tomorrow will get me headed in the right path.

Frank - amazing picture!

All stay safe.

Tom
Hello Blue
The poor husband that spilled the beans will still be reminded of his mistake twenty years from now and beyond.
For those in the heat we never reached 70 yesterday and might get 75 for todays high. Right now it's 54 and cloudy.

Took an early ride with SonIL to Cabela's this AM.  Picked up a new pair of Danner Pronghorn hunting boots.  My ones I have now are 6 years old.  Put these on the shelf and see how the old ones do.  Subject to "crash" soon.  Only wear them hunting.  Last year, noticed if I stood in water long, right one leaked.   Gortex so not suppose to leak.

78 degrees and spotty rain showers off and on.  Same for tomorrow.  Humidity is horrible.

Rest of the day, maybe a little of this or that.  At least Wifey can't have me out doing her labor in her gardens.

Have a good one.
Greetings, gang.

Rain and 46 degrees outside my window this morning.  High for today in the upper 50s with the rain ending (for a while) this afternoon.  More rain predicted for tomorrow night and Saturday.  Not complaining.  We really need it here.

Walmart and grocery runs completed successfully and the shelves are restocked.  I've been watching some very early John Wayne movies lately.  So far he is 100% successful in catching the bad guys and getting the girl.  This morning I will find out what kind of tortures the physical therapist will design for me.  Not much planned for the rest of the day.

Good morning. Cloudy and chance of rain. Especially in Edgecombe Co. per weather guesser [yes, said Edgecombe]. Build some shelves in a small little closet in dinning room where we keep vacuum. Plenty of room above for three shelves. Wifey wants to store some dinner wear. Said tired of pulling out items and tightly packing dishes in the two built in china closets in dinning room. Been hearing that for a month. undefined [self: maybe too many dishes]

Is there anyone who is not tired of political advertisements? Stretching the truth and lots of lies. Can't stop them as media makes millions of $$$$ off of them. Less lawyers and cars dealers advertising. Rates go up during the political season.

Prayers for CA fire fighters and victims.

Later.
Good Morning gang.
It's a beautiful day here in southeast Ohio, Sunny and comfortable temps and humidity.
Just got back from a non eye doctor appointment.  I had a 10 am appointment and the exams generally take 20 minutes. There were 4 folks ahead of me so I left.
With my prostate problems and no public rest room, well, you get my point, however even with out my problem that would have been an hour and 20 minute wait.  how do you get an hour and 20 minutes behind when you have only been open for an hour.
I can't believe the arrogance of these so called professional people, and I have decided I will not wait any longer than 5 minutes after a scheduled appointment anywhere.  I am starting to realize that those minutes are my minutes and it is my decision how to use them.
Isn't that why we make them, so we don't have to sit is a waiting room.
Heading out to do a little yard work them I may scan some more photos.
