Morning.  Out the door to Edgecombe to trim shooting lanes.  Got a young man to handle pole saw.  That is good as old back not the best this AM.  Too much lifting working on tractor [now fixed and running good] and big bags of corn from tractor supply.

Enjoy your day.
Good morning everyone, temps still over 100 through to the end of next week. Oh, now I find that it's not going to be an El Nino, but a La Niña winter, still going to be warmer and dryer regardless. Geeze, these guys can't agree on anything. Nope I'd hate to be in a poker game with them where they make up and change the rules as they go along. Eek

Stopped by the pawn shop again yesterday, was too tired to do anything else, so I picked up some more 22 ammo. Still got it stacked waist high in the aisles and behind the counter. The cleaning lady told me the other day that she heard that one company was 800,000 orders behind for ammo. People are afraid, can't control guns, but nothing there about controlling ammo. BTW, that pawn shop has cases and walls full of guns. No lines waiting for any of this, my son asked them how come, and the sales guy said he wasn't sure, he said they have a big billboard ad on I-17. Other gun shops are resorting to taking reservations and some jacking the prices up on everything in stock.

Nothing scheduled for today, going to try to get some time working on my layout. Have a great and safe day....

Oh, tompm, congrats, a nice way to spend that special day.... 2285_
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 47 at the moment headed for cloudy, breezy, and 55 with a slight chance of showers this afternoon.

Fairly quiet day yesterday. PT in the morning and a walk in the afternoon. Also went to Kohl's looking for a new shirt but couldn't remember what size. Off to Walmart shortly. Then a walk later. Still too windy for the bike. Got a call from my son last night. Granddaughter's cancer is very treatable. 6 months of chemo, surgery, 4-6 weeks of radiation, and then some medications (he didn't say what kind) for a period of time after that. PET scan Friday to make sure it hasn't spread. I also got a text from my granddaughter-in-law. One of her boys has been exposed to someone who tested positive for covid. He's doing fine at the moment but is upset that he can't play any more football this year.

All stay safe.

Good morning folks

It is 64 this morning. We are looking for a high of 70.

Had to do some running around yesterday. I had to go to two different pet supply stores to get everything I needed. The wife needed to get new sneakers so we hit Kohl’s. I did a few other little things around the house.

I did get to weather a boxcar using all weathering chalks. Frist time for doing this. In the past I have used chalks with washes and other methods. I posted my thoughts and results in another thread here:
https://bigbluetrains.com/showthread.php?tid=9196

I am hoping to try another car today.

I do have to go to Boscov’s and see what they can do about a bracelet I bought my wife for our anniversary. The clasp would not close. Then we got it close but now we cannot get it to open. I have to also do some grocery shopping.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

Partly cloudy and 31 outside my window this morning with a pretty sunrise. High for today in the mid 50s with not much wind.

Walmart and the grocery store yesterday morning and a walk in the afternoon. Otherwise a quiet day. PT this morning and some form of outdoor exercise this afternoon - the exact nature of which is still undetermined.

All stay safe.

Good morning all, it's Friday and there's no change in the weather, not seeing too many snowbirds heading this way. Usually, Oct 1 is the start of the season for them. Oct 1 was also the end of our "monsoon season". We went on record with two days of rain and one of the driest ever running well under a inch.

Drove into the parking lot of the new Costco yesterday thinking that if I find a decent parking spot I'd go in. Not only there wasn't one, but cars were sitting there waiting for one to open up. Oh, and there was a line waiting to get in and this was well after they opened. I guess they're keeping the number of folks in the store below some level. Nope, I think I'll wait a few more weeks before I try again, better yet, just drive 10 miles to the other Costco, it should be easy in, easy out there. The lines for gas were short, they have three pumps per lane and a lighting system to show you when a pump opens up with enough space to get around to even the middle one. I go early since the station opens well before the store does....
Morning. Out the door to Louisburg and FIL's. Ride the 140 most of the day. Going to burn the big burn pile out back. They lured me up there with promise of hotdogs on the coals.

Nice cool but warming fast day.

Enjoy your day.
Good Morning folks.
I was up early but haven't done anything but drink coffee and have breakfast.  It's a cool one and the grass is dew covered. I will finish mowing when it dries. I did the front yard which is a little over half an acre yesterday and the back fenced in yard is all that is left. I will only take about a half hour.

I worked on some of the scans yesterday and did some organizing in the train shed, not that you would notice.  I am to the point I am throwing stuff away that I thought would be useful while building the layout. Some did, some stuff might still be useful, but there is a lot that won't.  I am keeping a lot of material for the layout I started in 1986 that is in the house my son bought. It is 17x28 double track dogbone  and all I got done on it was ballasting and some scenery. He is working with 2 of my grandsons to keep them out of trouble. They are still at the fast running stage so the trains get a workout.

I stopped taking one of my drugs hoping to get over this chronic fatigue I have, which is one of the side effects. 2 days and I see an improvement. I will have to watch my BP but so far staying in the low range.

I have a huge amount of scrap lumber that needs burned but our burn ban just took effect. We can't burn between 6 AM and 6 PM, I am guessing so the volunteer firemen are home if one gets out of control.  I may try to burn this evening but we have to be careful of wind here, it seems that we only get calm periods for a few days a month. I have even thought about a small wind mill but the cost over rides the savings.

          Cheers
           Charlie
Sun and 51, I don't like the temperature drop, loved the 70s.
Just checking in. We don't do the pay to shop stores, our three kids can get whatever we want from them and that's mostly liquid soaps and five dollar cooked chickens. There is chili on the stove for today's meal. My cousin and wife have decided to stay here in Michigan for the winter because of the China Virus.

Good afternoon folks

It is a pleasant 63 going to 65.

Checking in late. Was feeling a little under the weather this morning. After I got the cats feed and the dog out I fixed breakfast. I then decided to lay back down for an hour. Of course, an hour turned into almost three. Feeling better. Been working on cleaning and waxing the dining room floor. Now I am battling with a Rite Aid in Drexel Hill over my wife’s inhalers. We usually use another Rite Aid in Springfield but the Drexel Hill one almost always has the inhalers in stock. Our favorite one most of the time has to order them and it takes a day or two to get. Unfortunately we misread the doses left and did not realize there were no active refills and tried the Drexel Hill one. They only requested one of the two inhalers and somehow gave my wife’s doctor a hard time. The pharmacy said he only authorized one. I requested both inhalers and when I called him he said the pharmacy only asked for one of the inhalers twice. So apparently he called the pharmacy to clarify it and that is when they gave him a hard time. Next time we will make sure there is enough time for the Springfield store to order them.

In between the floor and the pharmacy I installed the front railings on two Atlas Penn Central GP-7’s and test ran them. Atlas locos run so smooth. I want to weather some boxcars and run some train tonight.

I hope everybody has a good day.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 42 at the moment going to cloudy and 56 later this afternoon.

Routine day yesterday. Physical therapy at 10:15 then went to Kohl's to get a new dress shirt. I had picked one out on Wed. but wasn't sure on the size. When I went back yesterday the one I wanted was gone, of course. Oh, well. Like the old tv commercial "they'll make more." Thursday when I was out I filled the gas tank and of course yesterday the price dropped by 4 cents.

Not much planned for today. Gonna skip the great-grandson's flag football this morning. Looking forward to the zoom chat this afternoon.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning all, ah, Saturday, managed to get an extra 1 1/2 hours sleep. Still got around seven years of broken sleep to make up for. Getting lots of feedback on how my wife's doing. They say she's settling in, eating and sleeping well. I saw her on Skype the other day, those visits are OK, she is starting to recognize me, but they're not like a physical one. I won't do that if I have to wear PPE gear and still stay 6' away since she had no clue who I was when I did do it that way.

Still poking away at my layout, got one scene that I keep doing and redoing until I'm satisfied. Icon_rolleyes You all know what I'm talking about there.... I'm close, but may never get it to look like I really want it to. Nope I have no prototype to go by, just what my mind thinks it should look like.

Have a great weekend..... We've now got six for our video chat this afternoon. 2285_
Morning.  Slept late for a change.  Cooked scrambled eggs, bacon and toast.  Lot of coffee.  65 and sunny.  Low was in the high 40's.  Wifey and crew cleaning outside of FIL's house today [sure getting late start].  I am being real quite.  Think I've done my duty.

Rode Farmall 140 mowing most of the day except when the 15+ year old belt broke on the Woods finish mower. [about time] I now know how to install a new belt on it. Got home at 9 last night.

Resting and maybe Train Box stuff and a few personal chores around THIS house.

Later
Good afternoon folks

It is a nice 58 with an expected high of 64.

Took the wife to the dentist to get a couple of fillings. Then we ran to the pharmacy.

I did get to run some trains last night. I ran an older IHC Reading Mikado 2-8-2. I had some issues with it stalling and stuttering at first. It has been awhile since I ran it. It was having trouble pulling the train. I began checking wheels on the cars which were spinning with little or no resistance. I did find the wheels on the tender hard to turn. There were electric pick-ups restricting the wheels. Since the tender is not wired to the locomotive, I removed the pick-ups, and everything ran better. The loco easily pulled the train.

Since the weather is nice, I plan on putting up the outside Halloween decorations. I hope to do some weathering later tonight.

I hope everybody has a good day.
I completed one building today -- set of 4 row houses. Started the second one, same kit. First one had price of 5.95; second one was 15.95.
I've already made a mistake. There are a bunch of windows that look to be the same size. Some have 3 panes across and some have 4. I was happily gluing them in and noticed that I was mixing them up while what I was worrying about was getting the properside out.
I also forgot to colour the openings.
