POURING!!!!  Rain and more rain.  Some parts of NC over 8 inches and still raining.  New word is I 85 in Charlotte closed.  Sump pump working hard.  All from a front from the west sucking moisture from the ocean.  Not ETA.  This front will push ETA out into the ocean instead of NC.

Daz, glad the progress is going good on layout.

Got a award thingy at RFD for deceased fireman that was good friend this afternoon.  Rush home to do computer thingy with El Centro.

Country needs to back down from all its activities as the virus is increasing.  Wifey and I are scaling back even though we have been careful.  Probably not hunt but half days as not staying in camper with Fred.  He ignores all precautions.  One of those.

Stay safe and well.
Aha!  Last time I was in Wickenburg, something seemed different about the locomotive's surroundings, and this explains it!  I remember having lunch in the park as a kid and the locomotive was there.  So here I was thinking my memory was cloudy, but in reality they have moved the dang thing!

(11-07-2020, 07:02 AM)ezdays Wrote: [ -> ]Good Saturday morning to ya all. Got an extra hour of sleep in this morning, as usual for Saturday. Thought I'd wake up to wet streets, but not a drop. It really looked like it wanted to rain all day yesterday, but our hopes now ride on today and tomorrow. Still nice a cool though.

David, when we lived in Wickenburg, they did the opposite. The moved the engine and tender from a park to next to what used to be the train station. Since Covid-19 was still some 17 years off, they let us hang around and watch.
About 5 inches of rain.  West of us in Alexander Co., reporter reporting on flooded river and buildings.  Section of a big bridge collapsed in front of her. Eek  Section of I 95 near Wilson NC closed.  Earlier, I 85 near Charlotte was closed.
Well, good morning all, it's Friday again, we won't discuss the date though, but some people stay in bed all day today just to avoid the "what could happen" syndrome....

Got my projects finished, the workbench and some storage shelves for under the layout. Later today we will move the layout. it's prepped and ready.

Looking for any sign of rain, I think we're around a -5" so far this year, not so bad except that over 50% of normal. I'm going to lose some cactus if I don't go out and water them. You know it's dry when you have to water your cacti. Eek Yes, cacti is plural for cactus, but some are now accepting cactuses as well just because lots of folks don't know the other way. Pretty soon it will make it into the dictionary, if it hasn't already. Me, I'm old school on just about everything, including cacti....

Have a great weekend, and yes, our rain did go north and they had 4" of snow up at the Grand Canyon, so some folks can run up there this weekend to make their snow angels.
Greetings, gang.

Sunny and cool this morning at 17. High is supposed to be around 40.

Got the last batch of leaves for the season cleaned up yesterday. Also worked on toyboxes some more. This morning I'll head to the gym and this afternoon will see more toybox work. Also need to get rid of the last of the yard waste.

All stay sfae.

Tom
58 degrees and trying to dry out.  5" of rain.  Roads closed down east.  Rocky Mount NC had 9".  Sun to come out by noon they guess.  Not much happening.  Drank a lot of coffee and a BoJ's porkchop biscuit.

Enjoy the day.
Good afternoon folks

It is 50 going up to 40. Looks a lot better now than did earlier this morning. Sun is out compared to the rain.

Busy morning. I had to run my son out to West Chester University for his job. He is observing the opening and counting of provisional and military ballots. His job was supposed to end after Election Day but they keep extending him. He is beginning to wonder if it will ever end. A good thing may have come out of his days of watching ballot counting as he may be offered a job working in a state representatives office handling public policy issues. He needs to finish his master’s in public policy. He took a semester off due to the election and COVID. I think he has two semesters to go. He was in a four one program at Temple and completed his bachelor’s in political science in the spring.

I got home and started cleaning the breakfast nook. Tomorrow we have to pick up a new kitchen table and two chairs to replace the ones we have in the nook. We got two chairs a few weeks back so this will finish the set. Guess who has to build them?

I prepped four more coal hoppers for weathering. I hope to finish weathering the last two RTR boxcars. Then I will start on the coal hoppers.

I hope everybody has a good day.
We went downtown today and nearly as an afterthought found this. The move is tomorrow but I didn't realize how much prep they would do.

The commuter train agency has reclaimed the space where 6167 was displayed and it is headed to a new space by the river, next to the Guelph Junction tracks.
The new location (as of 3 days ago)

It has since been ballasted and track laid. I don't know what glue was used on the ballast.

I will not be going down as they asked us to avoid the area.
Good morning all. Well, it's Saturday and I was awake way too early. I guess I have too much work ahead today getting things out of boxes and put away. And no, we didn't move the layout yet, this weekend for sure.

Went to a Taco Bell to get us lunch yesterday, 12 cars in line, a few seconds later, 6 more showed up. I left after I decided we wanted lunch, not dinner and went to another one. Only two cars in line there. Taco Bell has some sort of order ahead app, but if you're #19 in line, do you still have to wait your turn? What's the point of that? Also, the first one had their dining room and counter closed, but the second one was open for eating in, confusing for sure....

Been warming up, looks like we're in the 80's all next week, not a drop of rain in the forecast either.

David, I'd assume they used the yellow stuff, the white wouldn't hold up to the rain and snow. Icon_e_surprised

Have a great weekend everyone, me, I'm going to set my pace clock to "slow" and see where that goes.
i just realized that I haven't said "hello" here yet this month.

You all missed out on all my fun.  the good news is I bought a third Eggliner for the layout:
https://www.activepowersports.com/bachma...q7EALw_wcB

I now have the PRR, The Halloween and the Santa Fe.

Now for the bad news:
5 weeks ago my 2005 Ford Ranger decided that it didn't want to go anymore.  One cylinder's rings went, so it's days were numbered. It still ran, but barely, it's a 4 cylinder engine. I took a withdrawal out of my 401(k) to get another vehicle.

3 weeks ago, the exhaust broke on our 01 Mustang, it's not worth repairing.  So now i need 2 used vehicles.

We have a friend with a '05 dodge magnum in great condition, 100,000 miles so we bought it.
Yesterday - Friday the 13th.  The check arrived Thursday and I'm on the way back from depositing the check and the engine went!

I was near a parking lot, so I started pushing and steering and fortunately, someone stopped and helped.

That's where it sits now, a mile from home waiting to be towed to my house so i can empty her out for salvage.

....... It's been an interesting month so far.

Everyone have a great day!!!!
Greetings, gang.

It was 32 when I got out of bed. The temperature is going up even though there is a heavy cloud cover. The temperature rise is due to a strong south wind. Rain is forecast for later today along with a high of around 47.

Moderately successful day yesterday. I had made a miscalculation during assembly of one toyboxes so I used my table saw to create a thin filler piece and attached it with Titebond III. Sanded it down yesterday and it looks great. Also went to the gym and had a decent workout. Slowly regaining the strength in my shoulder. More toybox work today. Also college football at 11, great-grandson's basketball at 1, and the ever popular laundry.

Gosh, Mikey! That's an expensive week. Glad to hear someone stopped to help.

All stay safe.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a suggestion, I'd empty the car where it is and have the salvage company pick it up there. Saves a towing charge, unless your insurance is paying for it....

All this right before the holidays. Good luck.
Morning. 57 degrees. Sunny with some breeze.

Heading east soon. Still a lot of flooding. TV reports 290 roads closed in NC.

Fred reports a lot of does and one nice 4 this AM. Means the bucks are moving.

Wow, Mikey.  Not good.

Enjoy your day.
