Home from the babysitting the Granddogs and cat.  Not bad duty.  Watched a lot of movies on Netflix and Prime.  Dogs will not let you sleep past 6:30 AM.

Been watering here.  Trip to Town Hall to do some paperwork.

Tom, when is "friend" coming to visit?

Have a good one.
Good morning all, and for all us Yanks, Happy 4th of July. There have been many fine folks that have made sacrifices over these years to get us to where we are, and we can't forget them on this day, even though we've set other days apart to honor them in other ways. Thanks to them though, we can enjoy our hotdogs, hamburgers, a cold beer, a dip in the pool and oooh and ahhh over some fireworks display today.

What will we be doing today? Uh, just stay at home and relax, some hot dogs just because they're easy to make, some salad just because it's already made, and something cold to drink. No, we aren't going to go to the city park and watch the fireworks, nor do we have any of our own to fire off. I just hope the neighbors don't set theirs off too late at night since part of our plans for today are early to bed, early to sleepyland....

What's your plans for today????
Hello Blue
I hope all us USA folk have a safe 4th of July.
Sun and 92 today with a chance of heat created storms.
We shall grill and watch the sky light up after dark.
Rest tomorrow...lol
S.J.
DAZ and Mikey, thanks.  Software let me go to last post.

Still hot and humid.  Finished watering Wifey's gardens.  Everything has been watered good within the last 24 hours.  Too many gardens.  Dodgy

Hope all have a safe and happy 4th.
Greetings, gang.

Rain, thunder, and lightning are tonight's weather descriptors. Right now it's 69 after a very muggy high of 83 earlier today. Rain lasting overnight but tomorrow it's supposed to clear off with weather much closer to normal with highs in the low 80s and lows in the 60s.

I found out earlier today that if you have /forum after the big blue trains link it takes you to the phpBB page, not here. I kept blindly clicking on my bookmark and figured that the experts were still working on it. Apparently I wasn't the only one. When I first went there there were only about 50 views. I just looked again and there are over 3000 views. Anyway I figured out how to get here and all is right with the world again.

Lady friend arrived about noon yesterday. After lunch we sat on the patio and ran the afternoon special for about 3 hours, just talking and watching it run. After supper we watched a movie. Today we went for a walk early but with the humidity we really wore ourselves out. Drank lots of fluids and took a nap and we're ok again. Went out for supper and ran into one of the guys from my Thursday night group. Invited him to join us and had a good time.

Tomorrow we don't have a lot planned. Some shopping in the morning and then the Thursday night group later in the afternoon.

Saturday my grandson is having a party to celebrate his birthday and also a gender reveal party. He has accused me of having an invisible girlfriend so I am conniving with his wife, my daughter, and anyone else I can get involved. I'm going to walk in alone and say hi to everyone is and introduce my "girlfriend." It could be fun to see his reaction.

Not much else to report.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning all, and thank you Tom, that's something that Duffy was playing with trying to solve our "read new posts" problem. I'll let him know so he can change the link back.

Today should be a hot one, even by our standards. Low temps around 90 and some places around the valley can see as high as 116 according to the TV forecaster. A low possibility of ran starting tomorrow, a much higher chance for next week.

Yesterday's celebration was about what I expected. We live a bit closer to the city park now, and we could hear them setting off fireworks. A few people in the neighborhood set some off as well, but by 9:00, things were quiet again. I liked it when we lived in Wickenburg, we could sit out on our back patio and get a great view of the fireworks as they set them off at the high school stadium. I'm not sure what we could see here, too many houses blocking our view, so we didn't even try to look.... We stayed in and watched, "Yankee Doodle Dandy" instead.
Morning.  It rained!!!  Didn't mess up fireworks for us.  May get more today through Saturday.

Have a good one.
Finally our thunderstorm. Not a full day but it may be enough to remove the goose traces from the pathways.
Visited a different bookstore today and bought a booklet on the Ottawa Car Company. This store is a small independant but has a nice selection of railway books, but only 1 deep.
Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 60 headed for sunny and 80. Repeat as needed through Monday. Looks to be a beautiful weekend.

Yesterday started out with high humidity and clouds. Later in the day the clouds dissipated, the humidity dropped, and it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and evening. Lady friend and I sat on the patio last evening and watched the new solar lights start up around the track. Looks cool when the yard is fully dark.

Today we're off to Waterloo (about an hour and a half east of here) to Home Depot, Harbor Freight (for new solar rope lights for the track) and whatever other mischief we can dream up.

All stay safe.

Tom
Good morning all. Yeah, we did make it to 116 yesterday to tie the record. Later in the day, a dust storm hit from the southeast dropping temps below 110. The TV had continuous coverage just tracking this storm as we watched one of their video-equipped vehicles drive around the outskirts of town. I'm not sure how far the storm got into the area, but I don't think it got past the downtown area, nor was there any mention of rain. Usually, we have the dust storm followed by rain. I just got tired of watching the traffic while listening to the continuous banter from the folks in the studio on how to survive driving though these storms. I wonder if they realize that most people watching this show are sitting at home or in a bar somewhere safe. If I wanted to watch vehicles driving on the freeway, I'd go drive on the freeway myself, so we finally switched channels going into the second hour of storm coverage so I can't tell you how the story ended, but this I know, it never reached our neighborhood. There's rain in the forecast for at least a week, I just hope they get over this kick, and tell us at least a little about the rest of the news. Well, it was our first dust storm of the season, so I'll give them that....

Big Grin Icon_e_surprised

Hot and humid.  Off to get fried chicken gizzards with buddy.

Staying cool.
Morning.  Raining.  Woke up to a surprise.  Had storms skirt us all afternoon.  Had a good wetting but nothing big.  2.8 inches of rain and still raining.  Should stop around noon.  Wish I could ship some of the rain over the fires out west.

Most of my plans are now changed.  Was going to mix and pour concrete around new yard hydrant installed inside the fence.

Hope all are doing OK.
G'day, kinda like a catchall from the land of Oz.... Well, it's about 1:15 and already at 111. Humidity is now at 12%, no rain, but there could be, or not, depending on who you're listening to. My weather app say 0%, but the TV forecasters say 10 or 20% chance of rain today. Frank, we really need some of that rain of yours, stop hogging it all and share, please...... it's so dry that I've had to go out and water our cactus. Confused

Not much else going on for a Saturday, took a shot at going to Walmart, drove around the parking lot for a while before we got a space that wasn't that far away that it required bringing a snack to eat on the way in. We do our best to avoid Walmart anytime after around 9 AM on weekdays, and anytime on weekends unless we're really in need of something there.
We are having a slightly cooler spell after our thunderstormette.
Spent a few hours stocking the motor home. Sine we finally have a workable outside tap, I managed to flush the pink stuff out of the plumbing here, also filling the water heater and a small amount in the freshwater tank.
I went to put the batteries back in the smoke detector and found that it's sealed and good for 10 years. Except that it didn't beep when I pushed the test button.(This was new last year).
Greetings, gang.

Another beautiful day under way in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Right now it's 63 headed for a high of about 83 and not a cloud in the sky.

Yesterday afternoon lady friend and I went to gender reveal for grandson and his new wife. It's going to be a boy due Dec. 3rd. That will put my great-grandkid count at 9.

Lady friend headed home today. No plans for today other than F1 race.

All stay safe.
