Hello Blue
2019 is here, how's it going so far?
It is 49 degrees in lower Michigan this afternoon.
No train news, mostly just goofing off.

An open letter:

Dear Weather-guesser,

I haven't got a clue as to where you get your data from, but I would think you all would come close to each other when it comes to numbers in your forecasts. For instance, we have Alexa telling me there is a 0% chance of rain today and a 55% chance tomorrow, yet my weather app says 100% both today and tomorrow. The TV gal says 30% chance of rain late tonight and 40% for tomorrow. It's almost like you all are using a dartboard as your main source of data. Is weather forecasting that difficult? You show us all sorts of graphs, videos and sketches to make us believe you know what you're doing, but I have to wonder. With your kind of accuracy, I 'm just glad your not in our space program sending spacecraft millions of miles away. "We have a 20% chance, wait, John (not his real name) says to make that 60%, of hitting our target while Sandy says 90% and the coffee gal says 'no way',". So take your choice folks, if we miss, we will always blame it on the weather Icon_lol .....

Just sign me as,
Confused

The good news is that they're all withing a few degrees of each other to it reaching 60 today.
Greetings, gang.

Sunny again this morning with a current temperature of 28. Don - better look over your shoulder as our high for today is again only a few degrees off from your predicted high. Supposed to get to the low 50s here. May have to get the spare bedroom ready to rent out to all the sandbirds.

Called the credit card company yesterday and got that "resolved" or so I thought. A little later I got an e-mail from them confirming the account was closed but they're "setting up a new account, and once approved, we’ll send you a new card(s)." I just want the account closed. How hard can it be?

Another nice day yesterday. Got to sit on the porch (with the aid of my trusty space heater) and read again. That will be on the agenda again for this afternoon. This morning I'm off to the grocery store and maybe go out for breakfast.

All stay safe.

Tom
Morning.  Being lazy.  Sun is out. Goldth   55 degrees and going into the 60's.

Tom, why I refuse to use Sheetz.  Not their fault but their CC bank.  Got a call.  Denied the charges.  They approved them anyway.  Got bill.  Called.  For 6 months I was harassed about those charges.  Finally some nice man called and I gave him the story I had told them over and over.  He replied, "Ridiculous."  "I will fix it."  He did.  Waited two months statements [zero balance].  Closed the account [actually lady wanted to argue with me about me closing it].  Unbelievable.   Some bank out your way.

Have a good one.
Good morning everyone, a nice gentle rain outside right now. Temps got a lot higher than any of those guessers thought, we did reach the high 60's, even though it was cloudy. I think that's one reason, the clouds hold the heat in. Hey, that's as good a guess as some of those professional guessers.... Icon_rolleyes
Not much else going on, like a few others here, I'm just kicking back and doing practically nothing. All the "work" things are done and what's left is just a choice as to when to do it.

Got a notice from Chrysler that our van is two recalls behind. Gotta make an appointment and just leave it at the dealership. That's something I'm not looking forward to. Either spend a couple of hours in the dealer's sitting area (free coffee, water and maybe a few stale donuts), let them drive us home and leave us without any means of transport if we need it, or rent a car for the day. Sometimes they pay, sometimes not. They used to have a fleet of cars there that they'd rent. Chrysler would pay for the rental if it was warranty work that took some time to repair, but now they send you to a car rental company and it's a toss up if they'll pay for it or not. I'll have to do something since it's a "safety recall", so they say.
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 31 this morning with rain predicted for tonight. Got to 53 yesterday. Today's high is only supposed to be about 41.

Never did make it to the store or breakfast yesterday. My ambition went without me. Will try again this morning. I did walk for about an hour and a half yesterday. Also got to sit on the porch again. Beautiful day for January.

All stay safe.

Tom
Busy and good day.  Was sunny and warm.  About time.  Wifey and I took a trip to take her shopping about 30 miles away.
Good morning all, nice rain yesterday, we got close to 1/2", a few other places around the valley got more, some got less. Rain started around midnight and stopped around noon. Some of the guessers got it right this time. As for temps, we're going to be in the low to high 60's, all week. Another storm is on it's way though, but not like what's been hitting the Midwest and East. Don't know if I could handle living in an area with that much snow, or any snow to be honest. I remember those hot radiators when I was a kid and running down the stairs (outside) to go stoke the fire and put more coal on it. I know, that's not today's heating technology, but that's my memories. One thing that hasn't changed is the beautiful look of freshly fallen snow, and on the other hand, the dirty-looking slushy snow after a few days of cars plowing through it.

So much for the weather and some memories reports.... Have a great day ya all.... Thumbsup
Greetings, gang.

Cloudy, drizzly, and 44 with a predicted high of 44. Not gonna change much today. Yesterday afternoon we had winds up to about 40 mph. The same is predicted for tomorrow.

I did make it to breakfast and shopping yesterday morning. Then spent the rest of the day goofing off. Watched To Kill A Mockingbird. Nothing major planned for today.

All stay safe.

Tom
Greetings, gang.

Sunny, 34, and about to get real windy around here. High for today may get to the low 40s with winds predicted to hit 40-45 mph this afternoon.

Sunday night I didn't sleep well - kept waking up. Finally decided that if it was 5 o'clock I would go ahead and get up. Looked at the clock and it was 4:59. True to my word I turned over and tried to go back to sleep. Finally gave up and got out of bed around 5:10. Nothing on the agenda for today.

All stay safe.

Tom
Morning.  58 and sunny.  Yesterday started off great and ended like a zoo late.  County Commissioners texting me at 1 AM after their meeting ended [I had to leave for a called Town thingy].  It was a zoo too.  Crazy folks wanting something for free to bail out their subdivision.  4 hours of public comment.  Same thing over and over.  Didn't get what they wanted so now being ugly to Commissioners.  Now they will never get anything.  Crazy folks.

Not much on agenda until dinner at Fired Dept. and then Town Board.  Means I have to do Wifey things she wants done.  She's already started.  Do this and do that.

Have a good one.
A little sun at 44 degrees. Rain expected. 54 yesterday. Spring in January won't last long but I love it.
Some free things I want from Harbor Freight but there's not really anything I need to buy. So the coupons expire one by one.
S.J.
Don't ever fear SJ, there will be more "free" coupons for the same stuff. Years ago I bought four small meters, I was going to rig them up to show volts and amps on my two control units, but changed my plans. I think I paid around $12 apiece. Now you can get them for free with a purchase. The only difference is that they've changed the color and probably found a way to make them cheaper. I never go to Harbor Freight without a few coupons for free stuff and the other day, one for 25% off. I used that one to buy a belt sander that got, "misplaced" during our last move. Lost a bunch of other stuff too, a lot of tools and some kitchen stuff. You kind of wonder what happens, you move 50 boxes and a bunch of furniture two miles and when you finally unpack, you find you only have 47 boxes, but all the furniture. This is not the first time this has happened, especially on a long-distance move.

Temps are rising, expected to get into the 70's before the rain hits again in a few days... Lots of snow up north though, The Grand Canyon had almost 9", and yes, it's still open during the shutdown thanks to the State of Arizona kicking in some funds.
Tom, I offer you my song, Jim's Blues

I woke up this morning; I was still in my bed.
I woke up this morning; I was still in my bed.
So I rolled on my side, and I went back to sleep.
Yes Harbor freight does offer the same coupons over and over. I have a lot of those blue flashlights. They do come in handy.
