Just an update of sorts. I find using the correct math, Icon_redface  that it's physically impossible to do what I was going to do and still maintain even a 3% grade, regardless of where the bridge is. What was I thinking, 35  it looked good on paper and my original calculations showed it was doable. Anyway, it is not, and so I put my old engineering slide rule back in its case. I do not want to add any length, and even with a 4% grade, I'd have very little level track, so here are two alternates, no bridge, no crossover, no grades, just common sense and adding foam to raise the height.

The end result, less scenery and more room for structures, which I like to do anyway. Applause

That should solve the grade problem Don. As one who believes less is more I like the first plan over the alternate A plan myself.

That's the one I'm going with, made a few adjustments to get a decent radius. Whatever I do, I'm going to try to use nothing but left-handed turnouts. It seems I have over a dozen of them and just a couple of right hand ones.
Surprise, surprise, I finally got around to ordering a number of vehicles, (11 total), most metal, most unpainted, which is fine, and a bunch of other stuff including some chain link fence to protect the water tower site. BTW Mike, Trainmaster is great,  lots of everything in stock, easy to find what you're looking for, and pricing is very competitive. Also, no shipping charges for orders over $99, which is not hard reach once you get going. Thanks for the tip.
Your welcome Don! They have seen a lot of my $$$$$ over the years as well. I found them when I was looking for Southern locos and rolling stock. Rolling stock and locos for Southeastern RR's is hard to find but they had Southern, Atlantic Coastline, L&N, Seaboard and other smaller lines as well. Like you say the pricing is very competitive .
Well, the gas company made a rather obvious boo-boo. Apparently, the site plans called for a 150 gallon propane tank and they installed a 1500 gallon one instead. The town inspector says, "No way", the engineer says, "what, it's only a decimal point"... The inspector won that one and so the new tank is now in place. Oh, the inspector also said that the parking lot was a mess and needed to be repaved or cleaned up. Icon_e_surprised Work order issued to correct infraction. Little guys say, "when we get around to it, we're on our lunch break"............... Waiting

Just to note, I think this is the smallest structure that I have ever scratchbuilt. Just a 1/2" piece of sprue and a few pieces of junk to hold it in place, but it should be close to scale.

That's nifty and I love the story line. Finally something done with a sprue.

Lookin' good, Don! Applause Applause Applause

That installation elevated the area into the same league as Creechan's Fine Fuels, although I'm not sure that they'd allow you to use their advertising slogan...

Don

Good job and very creative.
Thanks guys, I really just realized that this tank was way oversized for where it was. Jilly, the proprietor, says, "now I have room to add more outdoor seating, especially since we don't have any indoor seating"....

Wayne, we already have a local fuel distributor, however, would they consider a joint venture pipeline? Awesome This photo was taken from my old layout, all the structures have been put in storage and those little guys are just aching to set them up and get back in business. Most all are in need of restoration, but that's going to be part of the fun.

Hi Don---love the progress you have made on the Canyon State RR.Actually the Creechan Family has some roots in Arizona---my brother Jim is a graduate of the University of Arizona and I know he passed a lot of gas while he studied there so a joint venture seems like a natural fit.All we have to do is convince our local politicians to approve a pipeline. Well Ed, we have one big hurdle to overcome, I graduated from Arizona State University and I'm not saying that we don't occasionally get along with someone from the U of A, but we must insist on there being no weapons at the negotiation table. 2285_ Blaster  We could take over the pipeline that's sitting there half built and just run it our way. Call it the, "Creechan-Canyon State Pipeline", has a nice ring to it. Applause
Hi Don---my brother Jim obtained his Doctorate in Sociology from the U of A and had a long and successful career teaching at the University of Alberta in the field of Criminology when he returned to Canada---I think he has learned the "art of diplomacy" even with adversaries---this merger sounds like a great idea.

Could even put an end to the ASU/U of A feud that has rumbled on for almost 100 years now, no guns, just a whole lot of shouting during football games and some paint right before "the BIG" one. Rolleyes

Oh, and give my regards to your brother, a remarkable achievement to say the least.
Hello Don---I've always been proud of all of my family. My brother Jim recently completed a book on the Mexican Drug Cartels ---I pray the Cartels aren't offended and are looking for his address in Canada. Here's the title of his book :

Drug Wars and Covert Netherworlds
The Transformations of Mexico's Narco Cartels
