We had Turkey Vultures when we lived in Wickenburg, lots of Turkey Vultures. Had them circling our garbage can one day when we threw out some chicken parts. They looked so graceful and elegant up in the air, but a bit ugly up close. They may be smart, but not smart enough to open a garbage can lid.. Nope
There are lots of turkey vultures around here, too, and I enjoy watching them in flight, as they seem to favour the updrafts here along the face of the Niagara Escarpment.
We used to have a lot of hawks, too, but it's getting too built-up around here...I wish they'd come back and at least clean-up the cats that roam at will around here...if it wasn't so built-up around here, I'd simply shoot them (the cats), and let the coyotes eat the corpses.

Cats were never an issue in Wickenburg, a new neighbor moved in and I saw their cat out back. Not to worry, I knew we'd never see it again, and we didn't. The coyotes ruled the neighborhood, they'd set a trap for the rabbits and have one chase the rabbit into the line of waiting buddies. Rabbit stew for all.... maybe cat flambe for desert...
the blacks are a bit smaller than the turkey there here for about one to two months then there gone we do have resident turkey ones but there seems to be more of them in the cold months.

Not many birds of prey around me, but 90 minutes west of us, there's plenty of farmland, rabbits and rodents of all types.  The falcons, eagles and turkey buzzards all have good eating!

About a year ago, a woman & I were driving along a road through there and there were about 6 turkey vultures on the side of the road, on a hill, eating.  As we went buy, it was on her side, she said "Ewwww, that was gross"

I waited a few seconds and said, "Damn, I didn't see it, let's go back" Goldth Goldth

Well......  The Shreaked "NO" cleaned all the ear wax outta my ears  Eek  Icon_lol Icon_lol

Mikey, you need to come my neighborhood. We have red tail hawks, Cooper hawks, peregrine Falcons. On our job site in Manayunk there are a pair of bald eagles and at least one osprey.

My son took this about a block from our house during his lunchtime walk. An immature red tail hawk.

Nice Picture!!!

Yeah, there are some around here, I forgot to mention the 2 Bald Eagles at the Heinze Preserve too.
We have eagles all around us here. There are a pair I watch when I go train watching in Enon Valley. They took over a hawks nest about 15 years ago and have returned every year since. They have fledged at least one baby every year but most of the time there are a pair of them that make it. I really enjoy seeing them. They are about 250 yards from the tracks and the tree they are in is right over a fellows house. I have hundreds of pictures of them, this one is from 2015. [attachment=39680]

We have a nesting pair 10 miles west of us and another pair about 15 miles south.  I am sure there are more but I don't get out much to see where they may be.
