A B6Sb with several box cars in tow is headed for the downtown yard while the SW7 is switching the dairy. Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - nachoman - 10-14-2017 woah! Cool photos so far! Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - Schraddel - 10-16-2017 Some photos of the US-Convention 2017 Rodgau / Germany. ![]() ![]() Looks harmless, this or similar views often seen before. A railroad deck barge, a jetty and a tug. ![]() Not often seen is this relatively huge water area on a modular layout. ![]() You are thinking eventually some guy appears and push the barge by hand to the other jetty. ![]() Eventually a guy appears and hit a unconspicuous little push button on the deck of the barge. Then he went away and paid no attention what was following. Up came the sound of an starting heavy marine diesel engine, warming up and then running as such diesel engines used to do. Then as if by an invisible hand the barge moved off from the jetty. :o ![]() ![]() ![]() :?: :?: :?: ![]() Going over the edge :?: ![]() No ... ![]() ... it's turning only ![]() Full ahead towards the other shore. ![]() This is the target. ![]() The business end of the barge. ![]() ![]() Danger ahead. ![]() hock: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Moored. ![]() When th barge was moored the tug sound stopped too. and the cars on the deck are ready for switching. This was a fully automated sequence from depart, running, turning, docking until moored and electrical connctions also. This is a great workmanship of our Croatian collegues Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - Charlie B - 10-16-2017 Lutz, that is amazing. is there a video you can link to? Until now i have not found any video of the ferry operation. Have a look yourself: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... odgau+2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N9ns_tZoRA At app. 4.20 some few glisky views, but no ferry operation. My photos were taken in a time frame of about1 10 minutes. Too long for the generation i-phone with no endurance. Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - Charlie B - 10-16-2017 Lutz, is it motor driven and programed like a robut, or controlled by using magnets under the tables. It is fascinating to see the pictures. Charlie Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - UP SD40-2 - 10-16-2017 GREAT thread this week! One from my layout tonight.....
Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - Schraddel - 10-17-2017 Charlie, i presume they used similar magnet wire technics as the Faller Car System. When looking close to the photos there are some uneven lines under the "water" skin. But a very subtle work of art. Charlie Re: WEEKLY PHOTO FUN - OCTOBER 13th - 19th, 2017 - Selector - 10-17-2017 Hey, folks, I don't get here often, although I have begun to look-in quite a bit more recently. Nice to see a thriving community here, and that the weekly pix posts are still being frequented. It's also nice knowing that there are still many modelers out there building stuff, running stuff, and taking images to show progression and skills. That's a really nice barge set-up. About June-ish, I dusted off a diorama that has been stacked in every corner of our garage for the past two years and took it out onto a country road on a sunny morning, early with the sun at my back. I took this image which is fanciful, but the loco as shown, with the lettering and the Beaufort Range in the distance, is actually right at home. It's just that the Heisler would have been working in those distant mountains from the 1912 - 1940 timeframe, and not much closer to the Strait of Georgia behind me about 700 yards away. The glacier is known locally as the Comox Glacier, and it's about 35 km distant.
