Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Russ Bellinis - 03-07-2009 Kurt, I'm not at all familiar with that neighborhood and have never even visited the East Coast of South Florida, but I've seen a number of pics of the scene you are trying to capture in this very thread, I think, and if you capture the scene to match pictures, can it be any closer to real life? Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 06-11-2009 Well, it has been a while .... looks like I needed a break from working on my layout, but about a week ago the mrr bug bit again. So I already changed the track arrangement on the left side of my layout, because in contrast to my plans when I started this layout, I now think to have a runaround might be nice ... but more on that later. The last two or three days I spent adding some details, that means bushes, plenty of trash and the first piece of chain-link fence. The fence is scratch built from brass wire and tulle. Here are some progress shots to get this thread going again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - bdw9535 - 06-11-2009 Kurt, Don't know what to say, exceptionally well done Bruce Re: NW 58th St., Miami - ocalicreek - 06-11-2009 Awesome work, Kurt! Mighty nice autos for that side of town, however...you plan on weathering them? Galen Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Trucklover - 06-11-2009 Kurt, very nice work bud!! I love all the details, and the chain-link fence looks awesome!! I really like the vines and such growing on the fence, thats a nice detail that makes it look very realistic. And your weathering of the track, buildings, boxcars, and containers is beautiful man!!! Job well done Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Buckler - 06-11-2009 Good to see another layout inspired by my mentor Lance Mindheim! Have a look at my interpretation, a couple of years old now. http://www.freewebs.com/buckler/bucklersyard.htm Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Dan85 - 06-11-2009 The fence came out great! Nice work as always! - Dan Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 06-11-2009 Bruce, I don’t know the name of the weeds I made the the scrub bushes from, but these weeds are sold by Heki ( http://www.sceneryexpress.com/prodinfo. ... ber=HK1630 ) as tree kits and I think Scenic Express Super Trees ( http://www.sceneryexpress.com/prodinfo. ... ber=EX0214 )are the same. I get these weeds at a very low price at a architectural model supply. I simply spray the weeds with adhesive spray and then dunk them in fine green foam. I don’t like to use these weeds as trees, because I think the trunks are too thin, but they make excellent bushes. Galen, you are right. I got to do something about the cars, they look way too new. Think some accidents will soon happen over here ... Josh, my friend, thank you for your very kind comments. Buckler, thank you for the link. Very nice layout Dan, thank you. Did you make any progress on your layout? Can’t remember having seen any new pics of your layout lately. Or did I miss them? Today I added another piece of chain-link fence (sorry, you can’t see it, because it is behind the trailer ) and some more greenery.
