Re: NW 58th St., Miami - ocalicreek - 12-12-2009 Do I see another structure forming in the corner behind the trailers & containers? Galen Re: NW 58th St., Miami - tetters - 12-12-2009 Awesome! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Trucklover - 12-12-2009 Those trailers look right at home behind that barbed wire fence!! Nice work Kurt Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Steve - 12-12-2009 Who would have ever thought that trash could look soooooo gooooooood! Beautiful work my friend Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Russ Bellinis - 12-13-2009 Awesome work. I love that urban industrial look! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 12-13-2009 Thank you to all you trash-lovers . I really appreciate your kind comments.Galen, you have a good eye. The structure that I showed pictures of on page 15 of this thread will be placed next to this lot. I will have to modify it a bit – add a sidewall and cut it into two pieces, so that the main part of this building will remain on the extension and the smaller one wiill be fixed on the layout next to the fenced-in lot.
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Gary S - 12-13-2009 Kurt: I can't wait to get my new train room finished so I can get back to my layout - and I will be using your photos as inspiration. The fence and vegetation in the photo above is amazingly real. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - LynnB - 12-13-2009 Kurt that is a very impressive fence. I liuke the idea if wet sand paper as well I bet it would work very well for flat roofs. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 12-13-2009 Gary, thank you. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 12-16-2009 You may have noticed the small cardboard boxes in some of my previous pics. ![]() I think they are a nice little detail that really can help to enhance the realism of a scene. Though they are only .200" x .300" x .200", they are quite easy to do. Cut a .400" wide strip from a sheet of packing paper. ![]() Score the paper at .100" parallel to each of the long sides. Cut only very lightly, don’t cut it through! ![]() The two scores will hardly be visible, so bend the paper along the cuts. ![]() Make short cuts on both sides of the strip. Cut from the two long parallel scores to the edges of the strip. Cut at .300", .500", .800" and at 1" measured from a short end of the long strip. ![]() At 1.2" cut the piece off the strip. ![]() Cut off the little pieces outside the two parallel scores at this end so that only a little tab in the middle remains. ![]() That is how it should look like now. ![]() Bend the piece where you made the small cuts. ![]() Apply a little glue to the tab. ![]() Put the walls of the box together. ![]() Fold in the short lids on one side of the box. ![]() Appy glue to these lids. ![]() Fold in the long lids on this side, turn the box around and from the inside of the box, tap on the lids using a small screwdriver or another suitable object until the lids are safely glued toether. ![]() Here you are!
