Re: NW 58th St., Miami - faraway - 12-21-2009 Kurt, that looks great again. It is amazing how you setup the scenery. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 12-22-2009 Galen, Reinhard, I always appreciate your kind comments. The Roadway signs on the old trailers did not really fit into the era I am modeling. So now that I found this company in Miami that rents out old trailers, I put their sign on one of the old Fruehauf trailers. Makes it much more plausible.
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - MountainMan - 12-22-2009 Might want to weather those "old trailers" just a wee bit! Excellent work! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 12-22-2009 MountainMan, thank you. BTW, the trailer is weathered, but I am afraid that due to artificial lighting and resizing in Photoshop, the weathering shows much better in person than in this picture. I wanted the trailer to look used, not wrecked, so I did not want to overdo it just for some pics. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - up dallas sub - 12-22-2009 HOPEFULLY YOU CAN PUT UP SOME VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE OF YOU DOIN SOME SWITCHING ON YOURLAYOU AND LAYOUT PROGRESS ITSELF Re: NW 58th St., Miami - MountainMan - 12-23-2009 cnw1961 Wrote:MountainMan, thank you. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Gary S - 12-23-2009 Kurt, if don't respond to your threads, it is only because I am speechless. I love the pics, especially the one below. I have a suspicion that alot of layouts are going to be following along your lead with the colors and building types and such. ![]() Good stuff! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - MountainMan - 12-23-2009 Looks real... Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Trucklover - 12-23-2009 cnw1961 Wrote:Josh, now that you asked, I was interested myself in knowing how long it takes to make one of the boxes. So I did one and kept an eye on my watch. I managed to do the box in about three minutes ... not bad, but hardly quick enough to make a fortune by selling them, but if you really screw them up, I could do a few for you. I might be recruiting you to do some of the boxes for me if you would mind Kurt, Im still speechless on those things! Its incredible how much detail they added to the trailer storage lot!
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Trucklover - 12-23-2009 Kurt that building that you split onto the extension is awesome work! I will need to incorporate what you did when it comes time to start building some of the M&ET layout modules. I also like the new lettering on the old roadway trailers, and the signs on the chainlink fence make them look even better!! Good choice Cant wait to see the containers weathered in that lot!
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 12-25-2009 Hey guys, don’t make me get red  . But anyway, thank you! UP dallas sub, sorry, can’t post videos, because I don’t have a camera to make them. I got a little sidetracked. While looking through pictures from Florida on RailPictures.Net, I came across a pic showing a Landshark Lager billboard. The picture was so good, that it only took a little tweaking in Photoshop to get a perfect printout of the billboard. As you might have heard somewhere , I like working with brass, so it was an easy decision what material to use. ![]() The sign is simply a printout that I glued to a .020" thick piece of styrene and then cut out. A little sanding of the fin and it was done.
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Steve - 12-25-2009 At the risk of making you even redder  ............... I rate that a perfect 10 out of 10 Great choice, great execution, and perfect placement!......................
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Steamtrains - 12-25-2009
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Sumpter250 - 12-25-2009 Steve, Steamtrains, The one other thing I noticed is the almost directly overhead lighting, that produces some very realistic....."natural", shadows. I think this is a classic example of paying attention to "reality", and reproducing it in miniature. It's been a while since the last time I was in Florida (the closest to Miami I ever got was Boca Raton), but the scenery fits what I remember. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Ralph - 12-25-2009 That billboard is fantastic! I noticed the little detail of the newspaper on the ground below it too. Nice touch! Ralph |
