In order to determine the amount of shims I need to place under the bridges to reach the track I used double sided tape to attach the track to the thru girder bridge.

You can see from below how much is needed.

I used some leftover roadbed material and cardboard to fill in the gap.

Now I do the same for the two track bridge.

I remove the temporary shims and replace with 1/4 inch foam boards.

Trim the foam board to fit.

Here is the portal for the roadway tunnel.

I needed to take some off the bottom to make it fit and look like it was for cars and trucks.

Testing it in place.

I pull the bridges out for weathering. While that is happening I glue down the foam boards.

I place the weathered bridges back in place. I tack down the track for the double track bridge as I do not expect to move the bridge again.

For quite a time I worked on how I was going to handle pedestrian access. I thought of adding stairs but that did not prove easy to do so. Finally I thought of pedestrian tunnels. For that I bought two N scale tunnel portals and the Walthers Subway Entrance kit.

Once I had the portals I made a test fitting.

Using the Walthers Asphalt Road System I did a test of the roadway and sidewalk under the thru girder bridge.

Next I dig out the station side for the subway steps.

Add some turf.

Put together the subway steps and fence.

Add the subway entrance and place foliage around it.

Same on the station side

Now for an overall view.

Up next is to place the track back. Test it and then add ballast and more foliage and trees.

Nice work, Tom! What did you use for that foliage in the picture above? Love the small branches on the bushes - that's a great look in the scene.

Wow, great progress in only a few years Tom. Starting from the dismantling, to what is appearing now with your many new buildings.....  and that last little scene there, it looks terrific. Keep enjoying the ride!

I used Woodland Scenics Fine Leaf Foliage.

I saved what I could from the old layout and put it an old Athearn Blue Box. It is a mix of Clump foliage, medium foliage and fine leaf foliage all mixed together. I just reach and pull out some as I need it.

Jack, thanks!

I did a little more foliage around the back of the tunnel portal and on the station side. I also added some trees.

I tried to get a couple of shots of the "Back" of the tunnel portal. This was the best I could do. My normal way of getting photos of this area is blocked currently.

The track is back down. Now I need to test it, tack it down, and add ballast.

RE: Remaking of the Ridley Keystone & Mountain - tompm - 09-08-2024

I added the ballast to the track and across the bridge.
