RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - BR60103 - 03-03-2026 Tom: good luck on the plumbing. When we had a leak (pipe to toilet had the fastener dismantle) they said that the pipe break was not covered but the resulting damage was. The new pipe was under $10 but the damage included wet wood floors and water on top of garage and TV room ceilings. The repair crew told us that they were paid to remove and re-install the bathroom fixtures (to get at the floor) but they didn't have to put the same ones back in. We paid them to install some new ones to replace the 40-year old ones. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 03-06-2026 Greetings, gang. Cloudy, 51, and a noisy storm underway in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Supposed to get to the mid 60s later along with some additional storms this evening. Yesterday was successful. I have almost all the living room floor repaired. One small 4X6 inch area left to do this morning. After lunch yesterday I hopped on the pollution solution vehicle and took an 8 mile bike ride. During the ride I paid a couple of drive by bills and made a stop at the credit union. This morning I'll try to finish up the floor repair. With the storms in the area the lightning will prevent me from going for a walk. If the floor repair goes well maybe I'll make a visit to the gym. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - ngauger - 03-06-2026 Tom: Best of luck with everything!! Another cloudy day here, still waiting for the Sun to reappear... RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 03-07-2026 Greetings, gang. Cloudy and 29 this morning with a promise from the NWS to remove the clouds later and allow us to get to the upper 40s. Even with the storms yesterday's high in the 60s was much nicer. Apparently the NWS agrees as they are allowing us to get to the mid 60s again tomorrow and Monday. I finished repairing the floor yesterday and returned the air nailer to my friend along with a thank you pizza. Spent a couple hours with them catching up. Very pleasant end to the project. Saturday chores on the to do list for today. Tomorrow I'll stain the replaced boards and have the doors and windows open to reduce the fumes. Also need to attend to the graves for my wife and son after the long winter. Gas jumped again fro $3.09 to $3.29. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - sir james - 03-07-2026 Saturday 3/7/26 A cloudy 60 degrees, rain has passed. Last night a tornado in SW Michigan killed 4 people. Spent the evening at the club house. Gas Jumped 40 cents, is $3.29 this morning. S.J. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - TMo - 03-07-2026 I think I saw $3.49 this morning. The "supply" portion of the economic engine for determining pricing is a bit out of whack right now. I've heard someone in the administration saying "just a month of pain". Not so sure about that time estimate. Took the dog for a 3-mile walk around the neighborhood and then got the chain saw out to deal with some winter drops and necessary tree trimming. Loaded up the pickup with branches and dropped it off at the county landfill where they make mulch and compost. Someday some of those branches are going to end up in my planting beds as mulch. Added couplers to a friend's F7. The unit didn't have it's Athearn coupler clips, so I had to find a supplier. Price wasn't bad for 8 of the plastic clips, but they took me to the cleaners on shipping. Back up and running anyway. Thought maybe I'd get my bell that I've been waiting on to finish the mods on the CN GP35. Nope. Maybe early next week. I did mask the shell for the application of red/orange paint, but I won't spray until I get the bell installed on the cab. Don't forget to move your clocks forward an hour tonight. I did sleep in this morning in anticipation of losing an hour tonight. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 03-08-2026 Greetings, gang Clear and cool headed for clear, windy, and warm. 35 now headed for the mid 60s with 25 mph winds. A little later this morning I'll be heading to the cemetery to clean up the grave site. Then some sanding on the living room floor before staining. With the mild weather I'll be able to leave some doors and windows open to dissipate the fumes. Not much else planned for the day. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - tompm - 03-08-2026 Good evening folks It was a nice day today. We did some cleanup of the front patio and walkway. I have been doing laundry and finishing reports for work. I hope to get some modeling later tonight. Tomorrow morning is my twice postponed hernia surgery. Biggest change from the last operation is I have to shower with an anti-bacteria soap tonight and tomorrow morning. I have a bunch of Accurail kits to assemble to keep me busy for a time. If the weather is nice I may be able to get some painting and sealing done. If I can then I can do some renumbering of some Accurail cars. I hope everybody has a good evening. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - Charlie B - 03-08-2026 Good evening I survived the time change with a nice Sunday spaghetti and meatball diner and a 2 hour nap. My daughter stopped over and we put some train cars into my new rolling storage units that I got from Amazon, Each one hs 20 drawers and the drawers will hold 10 40 foot box cars each. (I got 4 of them). I got the sad news that my Sister in Law passed away Thursday night. She has been ill for over 5 years. She was a great wife to my brother. She did not want any services so the family has abided by her wishes. My brother has asked me to just let him have some time to himself for a couple days before I go to see him. I understand that s he has been her cretker for all this time. We had a nice warm day here today. Now I am wide wake some late night train work is in order. I pray your surgery goes well Tom Charlie RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - ngauger - 03-09-2026 Charlie: Sorry to hear about your Sister in Law. Prayers for you all... Not a bad set to come home to ![]() The A-B-A set was our family's first set under the Christmas tree in the early 60's RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 03-10-2026 Greetings, gang. 35 under clear skies this morning. Supposed to hit the upper 50s later on. Had a decent day yesterday. Got my first longish bike ride of the season, a little over 12 miles. Depending on my mood I may do that again today. In the mail yesterday I got a notice that I haven't contacted the vendor to extend the warranty on my 2013 Ford F150. Interestingly enough I did own a Ford for about 10 days back in 2020. It was my son's Mustang. I transferred it to my name to settle his estate. I then transferred it to my granddaughter per my son's instructions before his passing. My other thought is that maybe someone is using my identity to license a truck. This morning I'll try to find some motivation to head to the gym. Said motivation seems to be hard to find lately. After lunch my daughter will be stopping by for a visit. After she's gone I may hop on the pollution solution vehicle for another ride. Charlie - my condolences on your family's loss. Gas was down 4 cents yesterday. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - ngauger - 03-10-2026 Finally, after all that snow, temps are going up to close to 80! ![]() But it's going back to the 50's in a few days ![]() This is only a tease for Summer, but we'll take it
