Re: You say What..? - McGillicutty - 04-20-2009 woodone Wrote:I say trash the light bulb and trash diode. Replace the light with a LED. Hook up the LED from one rail with a small resistor 1K or 750 ohm. Then use the white wire for the control and hook it up to the other lead of the LED. BTW the longer lead on the LED is the positive lead and needs to go to the rail or the blue wire from the decoder and make sure you use a resistor!Words of wisdom. I second the motion. Re: You say What..? - OBJack - 04-21-2009 Cheers Guys, thanks all so much. My apologies, I thought all the words of wisdom had been dispensed on the subject and as Life has been getting in the road of late, I had not been back here for a bit, ...However I will follow the advice and install an LED (or two maybe..) and when I catch my tail I will post the results . Still need to get the decoder ![]() Jack
Re: You say What..? - poliss - 07-28-2009 Brian Lambert has a guide for fitting decoders to Ringfield motors. See http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/DCC.htm There are two types of Ringfield motor, one of which you have to be very careful with as one of the screws makes the chassis live and a fried decoder is the result. |
