Great pics!

Back in the '70s and '80s, when I was a teenager and in my 20s, I was REALLY into astronomy (as much as I am into trains now). My Dad was a strong MRR enthusiast and assisted as a conductor on a heritage train back then, but (instead) I was usually outside at night with one of my two telescopes looking at the four brightest planets, variable stars, nebulae or meteors!

It's mind-boggling how extremely large the universe is and how tiny the Earth is.

Can anyone recommend a site that lists astronomical events that are coming up? Our newspaper used to have an ad from a museum but that disappeared in a round of budget cuts.
(One with a Canadian or Northern Hemisphere bias would be good.)

David (and interested others), PBS's favorite astronomer Jack Horkheimer produces a weekly 5 minute naked-eye astronomy series for Educational TV (in the States), describing phenomena for the week, where and how to find them. A web site, http://www.jackstargazer.com/ details the show's info and more - at least fun, if not what you're after ! Bob C.

It never ceases to amaze me how a handful of engineers can figure out how to put some man-made piece of goods at the right place, the right time, take a picture and send it back for us to see.... Eek
