Re: De furring - Saltwater Cowboy - 03-07-2010 We have 4 cats and only one had the layout urge....here's how she got fixed...(pardon the pun!) Went down one morning and strung masking tape sticky side up all over the railroad. Went to work, came home and found strips of tape hanging off the edge with cat hair stuck to 'em. Cat's hate stuff like that on their paws. Hasn't been back on it since! Matt Re: De furring - Tom - 03-07-2010 I have two cats, one is too fat to jump on anything other than my bed, and has a hard time at that. The older one though, is hard headed and goes EVERYWHERE he's not supposed to, except for some reason, the kitchen counters (he wouldn't dare). I use a squirt bottle to keep him off anything, and he gets P.O.'ed when I spray him and turns and yells at me. Literally YELLS (to which I reply back with another squirt in the butt with the water bottle). It's fruitless though, so the new layout is planned to be at a height he can't get up to. Still climbs all over my desk, and when he thinks I am not paying enough attention to him, he flicks picture frames, business card holder, pens, etc. off my desk with his tail. It's a battle of witts with that cat and we go round and round over things. But he's 14 years old, and knoiws he runs the household. Hey, it's their house, I just live in it anymore. Re: De furring - sgtcarl1 - 03-09-2010 Tom, I can relate!! And I only have one cat!!! Re: De furring - railroader9731 - 03-23-2010 Thanks for the reply guys. I went with the laser guided misels land mines....... i mean the stickey tape well 3"x6" lables from work and seem to be working. ![]() Re: De furring - scubadude - 03-23-2010 Get a dog ... Re: De furring - Saltwater Cowboy - 03-24-2010 scubadude Wrote:Get a dog ... the cat would out run the dog and leap onto a high point the dog couldn't reach...probably the railroad....... ![]() Matt Re: De furring - P5se Camelback - 05-22-2010 Brakie Wrote:My daughter use a squirt bottle of water when she taught her cats not to climb or scratch on the furniture and to use her words just before squeezing the bottle trigger- "NO" ...10 years later and these cats still don't climb on or scratch the furniture ... I agree with this one ... it works. ![]() ![]() I filled it up with water, pumped it up about 10 or 12 times, set it to stream and when I saw them sitting, looking up, guaging the amount of effort necessary to just "arrive" at counter height (you cat owners know what I mean) I'd pick up the mister, and just as they left the ground, yell "NO!" and give then a good long burst of water! They would push off and right back to the floor. You know ... after a couple of weeks I didn't have to worry about it any more. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: De furring - railroader9731 - 05-22-2010 Lmao i have applied both methods water and sticky tags from work and little did i know over the winter in the basement they destroyed my ho scale layout that i found when i went down there in the spring ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: De furring - P5se Camelback - 05-31-2010 Oooooooooooh Nooooooo! said Mr. biL! You have my sympathies! And I'm sure the symapthies of the rest of the Big Blue "inhabitants." Maybe they'd enjoy living outside for a while ![]() |
