.franckcombe, the frogs of my ME turnouts are not powered. I wanted to keep wiring as simple as possible, but even my smallest engine (SW1500) does not cause any problems when running over the frogs.

Oh come on now gentlemen. Torts are not so bad. If I can't stand in the corner of the room and control my layout, somethings just not right. Hook it up to my laptop, fire up Panel Pro and its all good to go.

I work in front of a computer 8 hrs. a day....Last thing I want is to "play" trains with one. Give me a throttle, buttons to push and switches to flip and I'm in heaven....

how do you move yout turnout manualy ?
Do you used dcc locomotive ? with sound ? With wich system ?

I use a mix of manual turnouts, where they're easily reached, and solenoid switch machines elsewhere. At last count I had over 50 turnouts, and of those probably 15 are manual.

Kurt,
After completing the security fence, did you airbrush the entire fence with acrylic silver? I am assuming that you did not use a solvent based paint since the tulle would probably melt. I would think that it would be necessary to primer the fence frame before adding the tulle.

Wow, I did not think that I stayed away from the forum for two months. I was so busy that it felt much shorter. Sorry that I did not reply to your posts. Don’t know if you are still interested in my reply, but I’ll give it a try.
Tetters, I am with Gus on this one. I too work a lot in front of a computer, so that I don’t want to use a computer to controol my railroad. I like to flip the turnouts old style
... and throwing turnouts manually makes wiring much easier ... I hate wiring.frankcombe, to throw the turnouts I use the toothpic that I use for coupling. I stick it into the hole in the throwbar of the turnout and move it that way. I am using a small Lenz DCC system. It is the same as the Atlas Commander. It is not very powerful and it does not have many functions, but it is good enough for my small switching layout. I am having three DCC engines with sound, all equipped with LokSound decoders.
The roof of my Ornamental Suppy is made of waterproof sandpaper that I painted with acrylic paints.
Larry, I paint the tulle of my fences with a soft paintbrush. I am using solvent based paints and never had any problems with melting tulle. I don’t know what tulle is made of, but it does not seem to be any sort of plastic.

Josh, I did not work on the layout for almost two months. The last thing I did, was putting some greenery in the yard between these two warehouses. Since then I did nothing, I did not even run a train.
