Yo! Greg ... have you been watching the art/painting shows Saturday mornings on Public Television? 357

Seriously! Nice job! Very nice representational light/shadow color work! Thumbsup Cheers

The distant rain shower is really a nice touch ... I see that off in the distance all the time here in southwest Florida (and just as often right on top of me.) It's the kind of detail not often seen on a model railroad backdrop ... Kudos!

Great backdrop!!! Really outstanding painting. Cheers

Re: SP&S Shelf Layout - Gary S - 09-19-2010

GREG!

Are you kidding me? That is the best backdrop painting I have ever seen! You did that yourself????? Surely this isn't the first time you have done something like this, right? I mean, you are an accomplished artist, right?

That is beautiful!

Everyone....

Thank you so much for the kind words....

I have attempted to do backdrops in the past but neither looked right and neither were ever finished to this level. SOOooo I would say this is first backdrop that I am proud of. I would also say that it is really as hard as you would think to get these results....

remember happy little trees.....happy little trees....

I don't think Bob changed his appearance at all from the 1970s until his death. The dude is an absolute cult hero. He frequently used big brushes like that to apply large areas of background color, or to soften and blend the colors on the canvas together (create an illusion of distance). In the above photo, I suspect he is just holding the brush and the cameraman wanted to make sure the brush was noticeable in the photo. Goldth

Well Greg, there is still not a doubt in my mind that you are quite an artist. That backdrop is amazing. And I'm thinking... I don't need mountains in my background, but fields and trees and distant buildings, and the Houston Downtown and Medical Center skylines. I wonder how much a round trip ticket from Kansas to Houston is....
