RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - TMo - 06-13-2025 A very handsome finished product, Charlie! What roadname did it host originally before the paintout? Todd, this was actually an undecorated unit. I got 2 in a lot I purchased. There were also 3 Alco C628's undecorated. There was an ATSF RSD4 that is now PRR and 2 U23 B's that are now in Lehigh Valley paint. I have made number bord decals and I need to add a light deflector to the front headlight fo keep the cab windows dark. I notice the Conrail name is not 100% straight, but I saw prototypes that were not perfect too so I will let this slide. ![]() Charlie RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - TMo - 06-14-2025 From doing several Conrail decals, what looks good on the bench needs to be double and triple checked for levelness. There's something about the optics of those that deceive the brain! Sounds like you got great bang for the buck on that lot. My storage tracks are currently full enough that I have to hold myself back from additional deals. Here's what could be my last locomotive buy (and what was certainly the last of the new locomotives for the Reading): RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - tompm - 06-14-2025
RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - Charlie B - 06-21-2025 I loved the sound of the old GE's/ They had some stack talk too. RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - TMo - 06-28-2025 Paint fading is essential for weathering black locomotives - I think I airbrushed the whole carcass with a light overspray of gray. Bad patching was relatively normal during the early days of Conrail, and most equipment was in less than stellar shape. Taking photos is also a good reminder to try to find missing sections of railing (the front railing appears to have fallen off yet again, I'll have to scour the layout for their resting place). 6751's providing power to the consist running through White Haven, PA. RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - Charlie B - 06-28-2025 Todd, you nailed it for sure. Here is what it looked like in April, 1979. Charlie RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - Charlie B - 06-28-2025 While Todd is making them look real I am trying to make some look nice. I have 2 to do in the snowbird scheme and one in the red. These have been a lot of work, especially the decals because not all of them are available. The White flags are inkjet decals. Charlie RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - TMo - 06-29-2025 Fine work, Charlie! I admire your resolve to get the white flag on the red one - which is still my favorite paint scheme. Your snowbird is also quite handsome. While mine may look "real", every locomotive was freshly painted and clean on its initial delivery, which is still real. Loved the shots of 6751 - what a beast! RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - TMo - 07-05-2025 Coal rolling over the Penn Haven Junction Bridge racing the Lehigh River down toward Allentown. RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - Charlie B - 07-05-2025 Todd, your scenes are wonderful. I like the water color paintings that you installed too. You are a tough act to follow. Just a side shot contribution for today. Charlie RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - tompm - 07-19-2025 Lehigh Valley RS-11's
RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - Charlie B - 07-19-2025 Kiski Junction S-1 (Atlas) RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - BR60103 - 07-19-2025 Tom: are the crews in those 2 locos not talking to each other? RE: SIDE SHOT SATURDAY - Charlie B - 08-22-2025 The Wilderson Division of the Lehigh Valley has acquired a Mogul It was in a collection I bought a while back and lettered for the PRR.
