Ballasting, ground cover and some details have been done today.
While the buildings on my last layout have been perfect white like in Vernon, this time they got a black wash and some spots of very light gray. The area behind the red limousine was protected by tape and is perfect white like fresh painted. I did also permit more green this time. The diluted white glue has not set completely and is still visible at some spots.

Great work as usual and you are working so fast ...
I really appreciate your new layout even if Freelance 2011 was already a state of art job.
I will follow with great interest the next steps and I'm still hoping to see it in real before it's dismantling.

Really appreciate the photos of the kit-bash job you did on the Walther's Magic Pan Bakery. I picked up one of those kits a couple of weeks ago with the same thing in mind, but really haven't looked it over. Your photos have shown me what can be done with this kit and inspired me to spend some time with the kit. Although I've found a very similar rail served prototype bakery, not sure what mine will become. Would make for a good candy plant (more car variety) or could just use the main structure to represent something else and the silos could be used elsewhere. Lot's of potential in this kit.

Some residual Pikestuff walls form a run down building to cover a gap between two shoe boxes. I think that building is up for sale or for rent.

Ground cover and weathered buildings are growing from left to right. It may be time for some scrubs. Small enough not to interfere with the operation but giving some vertical accent.
The tracks of the industry spurs are sparingly ballasted and the sand ground cover is more then often reaching up to rails. Except the track under the rail box car. That is fresh ballasted and looks well-kept. The three tracks in the foreground are part of the yard and get sprayed against weeds frequently.

I need your opinion please.
After the left side building got a nice color accent with a pale green part I tried a more aggressive hight light with a yellow paint and red door. Strong weathering has been applied to tone it somewhat down.
I am still very uncertain. It looks somehow not realistic and has a strong touch of Disney Land. What is your opinion?

Looks good and breaks up the all white buildings in the area, its your railroad and am sure you will do what you find is pleasing to your eye. I do admire how fast you make changes and get things done

Ok, thank you for the quick responses. I did look around at the area in Miami and did find that the colors are somewhat more toned down (my yellow is in real a much more aggressive yellow than on the photo posted). The lettering and the red door was a overdone. I am currently painting it pale apricot without lettering and a standard gray door. I think that is a nice color spot too without a Mickey Mouse touch

That took less than two hours. Guess your work schedule is not slowing down your modeling. What's going to happen in the spring when your off, an all new layout?
