Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Russ Bellinis - 01-22-2009 The last time I was in Florida was probably 5 years ago, and I've never been to Miami. My wife's relatives live in the Orlando, Tampa/St Pete, and Gainsville in the Northern part of the state. Still that grass looks like what I remember seeing in the sandy areas of Florida. There are also fields of grass that are solid green. I just am not familiar with the area you are modeling. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 01-23-2009 Wayne, I gotta wear shades when working on the layout .Josh, thank you. I am glad that I am heading into the right direction. Russ, thank you for the confirmation. The light green grass is "wild grass spring green" from Heki (#1841). I haven’t used it before, so I only bought one package to try it out. I’ll be back at the LHS today to get some more in different colors, because it is the best model grass I used so far. It looks as good as the Silflor prairie tufts (the dark green grass in the pic), but it is much easier to cover bigger areas and it is even cheaper than the Silflor tufts. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - tetters - 01-23-2009 Hawt diggity that looks GREAT!
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 01-23-2009 Tetters, thank you my friend. Today I spent some hours applying ground cover and adding more grass. The picture is not very good, I know, but it proves that I was busy today . Man, you won’t believe how much time you can waste gluing a few grass tufts down :o . Anyway, after working on the layout for some months, it feels great to see it all come together now.
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - doctorwayne - 01-23-2009 As usual, it appears that Barney Secord is everywhere. Lookin' good, Kurt. Wayne Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Steamtrains - 01-23-2009 Doctor W....You're too restrained...."Looking good" is one major understatement.... This here is ... ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC....!!! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Trucklover - 01-23-2009 Kurt that is fantastic, i love it!! Seeing your progress is making me want to build more and more, but i have no money to get started on my mods right now dang no job lol, hopefully one of the places i applied for comes through this week lolAnyways, GREAT job!! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - cnw1961 - 01-25-2009 Thank you, my friends. Here is another shot Barney took after he landed. The grass is growing pretty fast in the tropical heat .
Re: NW 58th St., Miami - tetters - 01-25-2009 I cannot get over how good this is looking. Inspiring for sure! Nice photoshop job on the backdrop too Kurt. Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Trucklover - 01-26-2009 Another great shot Kurt, the containers are a nice touch to the scene, love them. I also love the way the grass is layed out and "covers" the rail tops in some spots, that just looks so cool and really makes you feel like you are standing there looking at the area with your own 2 eyes Re: NW 58th St., Miami - Tom - 01-26-2009 How *did* you do the tall grass and what did you use. I am FLOORED by the level of realism on this layout. Definitely inspires the Mrs. and I for our upcoming modules for sure! Re: NW 58th St., Miami - iis612 - 01-26-2009 All I can say is... WOW!!! You have incredible talent! Matt Re: NW 58th St., Miami - art67 - 01-26-2009 Kurt, Thank you for posting more pictures on your very inspirational layout. It really gets the creative juices flowing seeing the high quality of work you are doing, and I look forward to more progress pictures.
