Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - alcanman - 10-07-2012 Thanks guys. The disused warehouse has now been weathered and the grass and weeds around it are growing fast in the hot and humid Florida climate. Here's how it looks.. And finally, a loaded plastic pellet hopper is spotted at the Publix spur. Mal Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - sailormatlac - 10-07-2012 Excellent work on the wegetation Mal! Particularly between warehouses. It really put things in perspective! Matt Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - faraway - 10-09-2012 Some news from Deerfield Beach..... http://www.tampabay.com/incoming/west-palm-man-dies-after-eating-live-roaches-in-contest/1255471 Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - Kev1340 - 10-10-2012 faraway Wrote:Some news from Deerfield Beach..... Why would anyone want to do that I second Matt's comments on your vegetation, great work Cheers, Kev Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - alcanman - 10-23-2012 I've now completed all the structures on the layout which is now more or less completed. I'm now concentrating on weathering stock, and, of course, operating the layout. The layout is simple and fun to operate, 3 loaded cars are pulled in from the partially hidden storage track and exchanged for 3 empties. Here's a couple of pics On this pic, notice the disused parking lot conveniently placed for the photographer dude to take pics and videos Mal Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - fast car - 10-23-2012 Mal, Your layout is looking sweet. Larry Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - faraway - 10-23-2012 I love it! Your green let me think about some more green in SoCal too. Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - jwb - 10-23-2012 Reinhard, I'd say the amount of green on your layout is about right for Southern California. On the other hand, the M&ET is maybe 300 miles farther north, and there's more green up there, though the ground in that part of California is still pretty brown. But you have pine trees in the background -- for instance, this is what you see from the BNSF transfer yard to the M&ET at Empire: We've posted now and then about setting up scenery so that different areas on your layout reflect different places. This could be one opportunity. Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - alcanman - 10-24-2012 I've enjoyed experimenting with static grass and Heki grass fiber mats to produce the lush green scenery seen in the hot and humid climate of Florida. Here's another pic showing a lot more greenery, Mal Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - jerseycentraluk - 10-25-2012 alcanman Wrote:I've enjoyed experimenting with static grass and Heki grass fiber mats to produce the lush green scenery seen in the hot and humid climate of Florida. Looks like you have added a whole new sky with clouds too...? Is it a Photoshop add in? Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - alcanman - 10-26-2012 Looks like you have added a whole new sky with clouds too...? Here's another showing GP40-2 #6351 arriving at Deerfield Mal Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - Paulman - 10-27-2012 Mal: If you're looking for a few more trees, this article on modeling slash pines may interest you: http://dissolvingdollars.com/bvmodels/slash-pines/ They're very common in central and southern Florida. Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - alcanman - 10-29-2012 Thanks Paulman, those slash pines look great. I wasn't aware of them until now, your local knowledge is very helpful. With the layout almost complete and a new camcorder purchased, I thought it was time to try a video of the layout. As the locos featured are EMD diesels, I thought 'La Grange' seemed appropriate music to go with the video. I really like your foliage ad the unused warehouse. Re: Deerfield Beach, FL - talltim - 10-29-2012 Paulman, what is the light grey car in your photo? |
