The passing of EZDays - Duffy - 01-22-2025 I regret to announce the passing of my dad, Don (EzDays) Day. He was an instrumental part of this community and a founding member of this forum and even went back to the BBBT day (that's Before Big Blue Trains days, btw). He considered all of you close friends and extended family and spoke of many of you often. The family is planning a service at some point and I will keep you all posted as we progress. RE: The passing of EZDays - tompm - 01-22-2025 I have no words to say. You and your family have our deepest sympathies and prayers. He was a great person and online friend and I will truly miss him. RE: The passing of EZDays - TMo - 01-22-2025 Duffy, I'm sure you and your family know this to a much greater extent than we do, but we have lost a genuine gentleman who cared for all of us and made this site a pleasure to dive into. Please pass along the condolences of his BBT family and I am sorry to hear the sad news of Don's passing. RE: The passing of EZDays - ngauger - 01-22-2025 Those of you that have been here since the beginning, The Gauge, and The Big Blue Train forum know how much Don, his son Duffy (Pat) and Path (Pat H) have all contributed to keeping Big Blue running for all of our enjoyment. While Pat H moved on to bigger things, we watched as we lost a few of our seasoned members. (Fallen Flags Forum). Unlike most of them, Don and I frequently kept abreast of personal matters by e-mails and phone calls. Sometimes it was about Big Blue subjects, sometimes personal things. The past few months he visited Big Blue less frequently, just hinting as to how he was feeling, good or bad. I have said many times that it's amazing how you become friends over the internet through e-mails etc. having never been together in person. We have had a few Zoom meetings that I'm sure some of you remember and that makes his passing a bit easier to take, in that, we know what each other looks like and we're just not "a name" on a train forum. I also remember a few members met him at one time or another. He had wonderful modeling ability and was always very helpful to anyone who had difficulties of any kind. As is my job, on Big Blue, I have moved all of his threads to the Remembering Our Fallen Flag Members forum: https://bigbluetrains.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=88 My condolences to Pat and his family RIP, Don RE: The passing of EZDays - jim currie - 01-23-2025 ESTREAMELY bad day will miss him a bunch a good friend ![]() Jim RE: The passing of EZDays - FiatFan - 01-23-2025 Deeply saddened to hear this news. Others have said it better but he will be missed. I always looked forward to his posts in the campfire and elsewhere. He had a keen intellect and a way with words that few have. My condolences not only to his family but to all of us here at Blue. Tom RE: The passing of EZDays - cn nutbar - 01-23-2025 A sad day---BigBlue is mourning the loss of a good man---may God provide peace and comfort to all of Don's family and friends. RE: The passing of EZDays - Spitfire - 02-02-2025 Very sorry to hear this sad news. My sincerest condolences to his family and all his loved ones. Although I haven't been in much contact as my life has wandered far from model railroading, I was around in the early days and I will never forget what a kind and generous man Don was. Happy trails old friend! RE: The passing of EZDays - LiveSteamer - 03-07-2025 OMG I am just heart broken over this. Your dad was such an amazing person and inspired a lot of people on this forum. He was a very wise man and helped everyone that he could here. I am going to miss talking to him and all the advice he gave me to help out with my future layout. My sincerest condolences to you and your family. FLY HIGH DON!!!!!!!!!! |
