Jim If they are the same gears that are on the 4 axle locomotives the Athearn sd gears will work and are easy to change. I.will do some checking.

to update the proto pa gears are larger than the athearn ones and are off to one side, the common problem is not the gear itself the long side splits letting the wheel to move in or out not staying in gauge.

I thought Walthers did at one time.  Have seen these in hanging bags in LHS>

you might want to check with old pro audio repair shops or look around on sites like Parts Express or even eBay. Sometimes folks sell vintage or used parts there. You could also try reaching out directly to Peavey support-they sometimes still have old stock or can point you in the right direction.

Jim
I checked the E8 axles gears and they are 11 tooth and longer on one side Let me know if you think these will work.

Charlie those are not the same the older pa's had a gear that was offset with no bearing the axles rode in the side frame. thanks, again for the offer but they won't work.

you might want to check with some of the bigger pro audio repair shops or even reach out on forums like AudioKarma or Gearspace. Sometimes folks part out old Protos and might have what you need.
