Pie in the sky...sighted!!! Owosso, MI - nkp_174 - 03-24-2009

There were two pretty much certain attendees for the Owosso events this summer. There were a few more long shot options. None seemed like more of a long shot than the 4449... :jawdrop:

So we now have PM 1225, NKP 765, LR 110, the new 4-4-0, three 0-4-0ts, and the SP 4449!

This will be the greatest weekend of my life to date!!!

Looks like the NC Transportation Museum is sending the restored FP-7...it's a really well restored unit. Too bad they're not sending the GP30 (my personal favorite) as it's clean enough to eat off of. They really went all out restoring it back to "better than new" finish. But the FP-7 was painstakingly restored over a few years...and from what I heard, some of the guys who did the restoration had to contact some of the locals that live near the museum (who worked on them years prior) to get things just right.

Gus,
I typically average around 700 photos per week of vacation...so compressing that into 3 days...I'll have around 300 photos to share.

What really blows my mind is that the Daylight is coming despite the insane prices for oil right now. This past weekend, my father was telling me about the current experiments using biodiesel and even plain old diesel fuel in steam locomotives. Surely they have to make some sort of adjustments to the nozzles and such, but it makes me wonder what the Daylight will be burning.

I am currently in awe of both the 4449 crew and the Owosso crew.

Micheal,

I might bump in to you there. There is no way under the sun that I can miss that event!!! Not to mention, I grew up not too far from there.
