Fine Scale Miniatures kit #150 "Old time" Freight House - Ensign - 09-02-2025

Hi everyone, well I just finished off this FSM's kit that's been sadly sitting on my shelves for almost 40 years.
These kits are just wonderful to build, especially if you like details like I do.
I added LED lighting to it, something that I would not have been able to do if I built it years ago.
So some good has come from waiting to build it.
Using LED lighting and the hair like magnet wires now allow me to put lights in places that I never could using grain of wheat bulbs.
The kit comes with a full interior and the 2 roofs that cover this freight house are removable to allow you a better look inside.
So here is how my build of this kit came out looking.

Here's how the interior looks with the roofs removed and the LED's turned on.

Thanks for having a look!

Greg

Greg, that is a real modeling show piece. Very well done. LED lighting is great and cheap, a couple cheap resistors and LEDs and you have lights that look real.  And, it is tough to beat the price when you get them from ebay.

Charlie, Jim & Tom, thanks so much for your kind words!
Jim, you've really got to take your FSM's kit down from it's shelf dust it off and build it, they are really wonderful kits to build.

Beautiful work and building.

Simply gorgeous work, Greg! (again!)

I have seen a few of Fine Scale Miniatures kits made into spectacular additions to model railroads. Come to think of it, I think Glen's engine house is one of them. The company was owned by George Sellios of Franklin and South Manchester Railroad fame and the kits still fetch a pretty penny although they haven't been produced since 2016 (I got all of this from Wikipedia). I occasionally take a look at what's available on ebay, and it's an odd auction that doesn't go for more that $50, with assembled kits bringing in hundreds of dollars.

That's a great build with tons of detail that I love.
As an aside, my enginehouse is not an FSM kit, but a juneco kit. Which reminds me that I should get back to finishing it

Matt, TMo & Glen, thanks guys for your interest in this, and for your kind words!

TMo, George Sellios at FSM's was in my opinion one of the greatest craftsman kit manufacturers of our time!
