438 gets some decals.
I'm not totaly happy with how the decals went on, but we'll see.

I've always liked the looks and proportions of tunnel motors, and your adaptation of the Rio Grande lettering style certainly looks good on yours. Thumbsup

Great job on that tunnel motor! I like the attention to detail.

Updates,

It has been a while since I have done any work on models due to moving and vacation. These are the only two units not still packed in boxes. I pulled these out for some update pics. They still need some more work (and repairs) before they are ready for weathering.

Here is the 438. It survived the move fairly well.

Here is the 475. It didn't make it as well. Cab shades are gone, handrails need straightend, and body needs re mounted. All easy fixes though.

Re: Sarge's Tunnel Motor Build - Triplex - 07-13-2009

Just happened across this thread for the first time...

Like the inversion of the Rio Grande colors on 438. And it seems to have faded or dulled since the older photos; before reading the text, I thought I was going to read that you had weathered it!

Re: Sarge's Tunnel Motor Build - e-paw - 07-13-2009

Nice work. Is the Royal Gorge part of the Rio Grand ?

Re: Sarge's Tunnel Motor Build - Triplex - 07-14-2009

I just realized what 438 reminds me of (aside from Rio Grande, of course). Silver trucks on an orange loco... EJ&E.

Re: Sarge's Tunnel Motor Build - Sarge - 07-14-2009

Yes.............to both. The Royal Gorge started as a subsidiary of the Grande and since I grew up outside of Chicago, it got a touch of the "J" Big Grin

Thanks for the comments guys. I hope to have at least a work bench set up here soon and get some dirt on them Thumbsup
