Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - LiveSteamer - 06-21-2009 It's looking real good. Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - railroader9731 - 07-07-2009 Wow in some spots i can just imagine a loco and some cars 8-) I bet you got an itch to run the layout now dont you??????? Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - viperman - 07-07-2009 That is looking great! I love your scenery work/ideas so far Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - TCWORLD - 07-07-2009 Thankyou all, your comments are most appreciated. Yeah, I am really eager to run the layout, but I need some track. I've found a place to get it from at a reasonable price, but I'm waiting for them to respond to my e-mail. As for the scenery, well, the river bed is now complete and looking excellent (If i do say so myself), and the powerstation and substation kits have been combined/kitbashed together (will be my summer kitbash challenge entry, got a few pics of construction). I have also been smashing up sandstone to make scatters which i will use to cover the vertical faces of the cliffs - There are several shades, so there will be rock strata present. The shades also match the front facia. so everything will nicely fit together. I have pics, and will post them when i getr a chance. Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - Steamtrains - 07-07-2009 Coming along nicely..... I like your idea of using expandable foam for scenery....Did you shape it some as it was setting..? Will it take a coat of plaster..? Keep those pics coming.... Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - TCWORLD - 07-08-2009 For the foam, I mostly left it to expand as it wandted, and then carved it back. In some areas (mainly tunnel areas), I had to use shiney plastic to act as formers after the surface layer had dryed (It dries in stages - firstly it creates a surface film after 1/2 an hour - can shape it with formers at this point. After that the centre begins to expand and harden.). It takes plaster very nicely aswell, which is excellent. Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - Steamtrains - 07-09-2009 Thanks....I'll have to give it a try...!! Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - TCWORLD - 07-10-2009 I got my parcel last weekend, and over this week there has been quite a bit of scenic work. There are 83 pictures in my railway gallery for this month, all of which have descriptions of what i have done. I'm not going to link them all to here as it would take a long time. Here are some summary shots though. (For the rest, visit my railway gallery page here): Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - viperman - 07-10-2009 Looks nice! Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - tv_man - 07-11-2009 Nice progress there. And is that just a random cd there on that one picture or another layout? Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - TCWORLD - 07-11-2009 Thanks for your comments. Oh right, no thats just a random DVD that my sister left out as usuall. It's a wonder they still work. Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - Herc Driver - 07-11-2009 Really amazing work! There's so many points of interest on such a small area - really neat design! Thanks for posting the pic's! Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - railroader9731 - 07-27-2009 Very very nice TC buuuutttttt i could not help but note the 44 tonner is she built by bachmann????? if so has she seen any rail action? if so could i get some feed back from you on her preformance as i have a rail way that had 5 of them. Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - TCWORLD - 08-01-2009 yup, a Bachmann GE44T. It hasn't done much running, but I did test it out on a small track, and it performs amazingly. It also looks great too. They have excelled themselves on it. (P.s. sorry for the late reply, I have been in Wales for the last fortnight.) Re: Coal Mine Railway - Imaginary B&O spur. - TCWORLD - 10-29-2009 Hi folks. I keep forgetting to update this thread. I have been working on the layout, and got quite a bit done.
