MRC #1644 Decoder w/sound & Kato SD70-MAC - dwight77 - 07-29-2009 Has anyone tried installing the MRC decoder w/sound #1644 in a Kato SD70-MAC loco? It is supposed to be a drop in decoder much like the Digitrax decoders for the Kato SD-70 but it includes sound. Any comments on ease of installation, locomotive control quality, and sound quality would be appreciated. dwight77 Re: MRC #1644 Decoder w/sound & Kato SD70-MAC - TrainNut - 07-29-2009 I installed an MRC sound decoder into one of my Kato F units a while back. While I usually always have problems, this one went in without a hitch and it is now one of my favorite engines. I think it was a 1645 but I can't remember. The sound quality is great, as is the locomotive controllability (is that a word?). My wife just bought me one of them new really expensive Athearn units with sound and I wouldn't tell her but my MRC Kato will outperform it.
