Re: Would anyone be interested in the "Photography Game" her - Steamtrains - 10-23-2011 Doc...That's a gorgeous shot..!! I'm glad UP decided to leave it in NW colors...Brings back memories of riding the NW from Madison, WI, to Chicago... Aahhh...Those were the days.... Aside from the road numbers? The only visible spotting feature I'm aware of across all engines produced is the presence of two vents behind the cab on the SD70ACe for the inverters (seen in my Union Pacific shot) that are not needed on the SD70M-2 model There are other subtleties based on a railroads' production run of units, however. On Norfolk Southern at least there are also differences in trucks, dynamic brakes, and cabs between SD70M-2 and SD70ACe deliveries. Feel free to submit again. Wayne Re: Would anyone be interested in the "Photography Game" her - railohio - 10-27-2011 doctorwayne Wrote:...or a C40-9 from any road. What road(s) had them other than Norfolk Southern? I thought everyone else got them with the wide nose. Re: Would anyone be interested in the "Photography Game" her - doctorwayne - 10-27-2011 railohio Wrote:doctorwayne Wrote:...or a C40-9 from any road. Ya got me on that one, Brian. For most of the more modern diesels, I have to look 'em up on-line to know the model designation. Still, to keep within the rules, a picture should be anything with the same road name, anything (railroad-related, of course) with the same number, or a similar piece of equipment (i.e. boxcar/boxcar, etc.) as the previous offering. I'm uncertain as to when we decided that locos should be of a similar model when changing to a different road name, but it seems to have taken hold. Steam locos, on the other hand, can be used interchangeably, regardless of the wheel arrangement.
