Layout progress: relaxing & stressed at the same time! - RobertInOntario - 03-05-2010 My wife has just left for a trip to her native England for 12 days. So I'm at home looking after our two young sons on my own! To cope, I'm taking a few days off work so I'll be able to have some personal "down time" as well. As a result, I've been able to expand my small 3x5 (British 00, similar to HO) layout slightly by adding a fiddle yard. It's now basically a 3x6' layout. So while I'm a little stressed looking after the boys, I'm also trying to relax by having some hours to myself (i.e. when the boys are at school) to work on my layout. It's only times like this when I can get a clear, uninterrupted 3-4 hours of layout work. Also, the new steam loco, Tornado, is making a guest appearance at the heritage railway near my wife's hometown, so I've asked her to visit it this weekend and take lots of pics (http://www.watercressline.co.uk/). I have done this at different times, depending on their mood, etc. Rob Re: Layout progress: relaxing & stressed at the same time! - BR60103 - 03-05-2010 So, when she's not there, you just tie them up and drop them in the closet? I saw the writeup of your layout in the Platelayers' newsletter. When I get organized I'll print it out. No, they're not tied up in the closet -- I simply wait till they're at school or in bed ! However, that's not a bad idea, as they both can get pretty demanding, both bugging me to do things at the same time! Glad you enjoyed seeing my layout in the latest Coupling. It felt great to have it printed and "written up" in a newsletter. Rob |
