Parade Magazine yesterday - Russ Bellinis - 03-29-2010

I don't know how many folks get a Sunday paper with Parade Magazine included, but yesterday's issue had on the cover "America's Greatest Train Rides. For those who are interested, but didn't see the article, here is a link. http://www.parade.com/trains

YESSSSS! I read the article! It was the only thing in the mag that was worth reading, IMHO. Big Grin Big Grin

My wife spotted it and let me know about it. I think it is the first time I've looked at Parade in 6 months, perhaps a year.

Re: Parade Magazine yesterday - Bob C - 03-30-2010

Sorry, was unimpressed. Seemed to be sort of a "fluff" feature, only 2 pages (2 photos included), could have been compiled in 30 minutes from Amtrak advertising. Insert about "Daytrips" (1/3 page with map) listed 7 tourist operations in the contiguous 48 states, passing over such as EBT, Cass Scenic, and Steamtown, just in my area. Even the cover picture looked terrible (but that might have been the printer). Icon_lol I'm not saving it. Bob C.

I didn't save it. When was the last time you ever saw anything besides "fluff" in Parade? I just brought it up because I think there are probably people in this country who are not even aware that passenger trains still exist, or who equate the experience of riding a passenger train with riding some smelly, graffiti covered bus in the middle of the ghetto. I thought it was nice that a nationally distributed magazine even thought of travel by train.
