The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - ezdays - 10-18-2010 The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge Let’s start a new challenge, one we can all relate to. We all have those projects that either we’ve started and set aside for something more important, or we have those that we truly intend to start but haven't yet for one reason or another. Most often, we have the material, kit, engine or car. All we need now is one more part or a bit more time and we’re off to the races. Well, now is your chance to get the incentive to go finish up that project. We will call this our, “end of year clearance challenge.” The Rules:
As usual, there are no real prizes, just bragging rights and a certificate from Big Blue showing that you won one of the top three spots. Please post any questions or comments regarding this challenge here in this thread and we will attempt to resolve any issues here before the challenge starts. Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - tetters - 10-18-2010 Oooo....goody...I have just the thing! I need a good kick in the pants to get moving on a "start-all-over" project I began a few weeks ago. But I'll wait until Nov. 1st before I put up anything. I'll continue to work on it until then. You obviously did not read the rules...! Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow... Andrew Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - nachoman - 10-18-2010 I've got a project I havent worked on in probably 5 years. I have most, or all, of the raw materials, and I have time. I really have no excuses. Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - ezdays - 10-18-2010 Well, I was going to run this about a year ago, but one thing led to another and... I think I has a sever case of procrastination... As further proof, I have about six plastic boxes lined up over my workbench, each with a project that I started over the years, the oldest is about four or five years old, but I'm still poised to get to them any day now.... Who me, a procrastinator????? To fellow procrastinators, I say: and good luck. Oh no I read the rules. Every day I look at it and say I'm going to get A B & C accomplished and instead end up goofing around for an hour and then hopping on line to surf the gauge or maybe watch a movie. So when I say "work on it", its really just a figure of speech. Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - ocalicreek - 10-18-2010 Question: IF I finish the one project that I enter, can I then enter another? (Don't laugh, I'm serious! ) Galen Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - Steamtrains - 10-18-2010 Galen...Right off the bat I can see you don't qualify....It's about procrastinating.....That other project MUST sit on your bench, drawer or closet for at least another year before you get around to it.... (Don't laugh, I'm serious! )Gus is right, no procrastinator in his right mind would even suggest something like this... Besides, read rule #5, that should take care of any doubts. Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - BR60103 - 10-18-2010 Don: You left out the preliminary challenge which is deciding which of the projects I haven't done anything to in over 20 years will be the one to enter. That should take me to Christmas. Is there a prize for the person making the least progress? Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - ezdays - 10-18-2010 BR60103 Wrote:Don:Probably the worse scenario that I can think of in that regard would be for someone to actually take apart a project that they already finished. Would that be negative procrastination or just a giant step beyond not even starting to begin with? :?: :?: Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - P5se Camelback - 10-19-2010 HMmmmm! I should probably choose one of the "other unfinished projects," not my 2010 Summer Structure Challenge entry, right? Not a problem ... ... the choices are seemingly endless ...
... no worries ... I'll pick a juicy one!
Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - eightyeightfan1 - 10-19-2010 Gee..Maybe I'll join this one. I don't know...I could wait until the next one....or even challenge after that. By the way....What does procrastination mean? Re: The Big Blue End of Year Clearance Challenge - Sumpter250 - 10-19-2010 OK, I'll start thinking about it on November 1. Then, it will be a "short while" until I decide which, and a bit after that before I decide to start.......the completion date can be extended, right? " By the way....What does procrastination mean? " Procrastination means; never having to worry about completing tomorrow, a project that was scheduled for completion last month!
