Not logged in - Gary S - 02-23-2011 I hate it when this happens. Type a long involved post, hit submit, and the forum tells me that I must be logged in to reply. Dagnabbit, I WAS logged in and big blue just sent my work into internet oblivion. Have to start all over now.
Re: Not logged in - ezdays - 02-23-2011 Now I don't know why it doesn't think you're not logged in, but I can tell you how to prevent losing your work. I've had occasional problems where I might not be able to post, so what I'll do is to hit the "back" button until my work appears, then I'll copy the text and save it somewhere like in a text file or even in an email temporarily until I can post it. That way, if I have to even reboot my computer, I've saved my work. You can also try to hit the "back" button until you have your composition, then open Big Blue in another tab and try to log in if your not already. if the problem is that it says that you need to log in and you're not, then that's something else that needs to be looked at. Re: Not logged in - Gary S - 02-23-2011 Not to worry, Don, guess I am just feeling grumpy this morning!
Re: Not logged in - ezdays - 02-23-2011 Gary S Wrote:Not to worry, Don, guess I am just feeling grumpy this morning!I'm sure losing a well-crafted post with a few uploaded pictures would make anyone grumpy. I know it would me, I've been there more than once...
Re: Not logged in - tomustang - 02-23-2011 I've had that happen many times before The worst of it is you can't go back a page and get the info you typed backSince then, when making long threads or posts I just copy the info in word or wordpad and restart a new topic or post Re: Not logged in - Tom - 02-23-2011 Been there, done that! Too many times to count. That's why when making a forum post over a few sentences, I highlight the post and CTRL+C it all before hitting submit so if it does lose it, oh well, I can simply paste it in again. Re: Not logged in - Gary S - 02-23-2011 I will try to remember to copy any long posts before submitting them from now on. Great tip.
Re: Not logged in - Gary S - 05-22-2011 It is happening again. I'm having trouble replying because Big Blue tells me I am logged out when I try to submit a message. phpBB
Re: Not logged in - Gary S - 05-22-2011 and of course, BB accepted that message. I'll try the others again. :| Re: Not logged in - Gary S - 05-24-2011 I'm getting logged out contunually tonight. Anyone else having the problem? Do you guys think it is something on my end? Any suggestions? Re: Not logged in - Sumpter250 - 05-24-2011 Gary, It's been so long since I've had any problems with Big Blue, I honestly cannot remember the last time. I am on dial-up At&t is my ISP ( and my land line provider ) I use Mozilla Firefox 4. for my browser. I haven't "purged cookies" in ages I have run a disk defragmentation recently All the above, works, so if you are using any of the above mentioned, I would tend to not question those, and concentrate on the dissimilar ones. Not seeing any of your symptoms, makes any further guessing on my part....little more than just guessing. Logic, leads my thinking towards something in the path between you, and the forum ( like ISP, Browser, internet connection--wireless? possible dropping of signal?/ wireless connection? ), unfortunately, as much as I would like to help, I don't have enough information to go on. Don's suggestion about opening another tab and logging in there, might be a good starting point, if nothing else. Pete Re: Not logged in - tomustang - 05-25-2011 It's a long shot but, does anyone else use your computer? Someone might be clearing out the cookies every time they go on Also recheck your settings to see if the cookies autoclear every 24 hours Re: Not logged in - ezdays - 05-25-2011 Gary S Wrote:I'm getting logged out contunually tonight. Anyone else having the problem?Gary, Sorry to hear this, I stay logged one for weeks at a time. The only time I log out is if I need to do some testing, which is rare. Do you get logged off while you're here, or is it that you have to log on every time you come here even if you choose to stay logged on? I can't image what your problem is, but our usual recommendations are to clear your cookies and your cache, that frequently works. I do have a feeling that you've tried this already. But since no one else seems to have this problem, we can assume that it's at your end and not here. I can't see where you can make any setting changes other than to be sure you check "log me on automatically each visit" when you do log on. I'll keep on this to see if I can find anything else. Re: Not logged in - Gary S - 05-25-2011 Thanks for the replies. To make sure everyone understands, I am getting logged out multiple times as I sit at the computer viewing the forum. Every 3 or 4 page changes, every couple of minutes, I get logged out and have to log back in. It gets quite annoying. Also, I am the only one using this computer. It is set to log in automatically to the forum. Now, I have gone for months and months without any issues, but every now and then, the issue arises. I am on satelite service, so maybe they are doing something? Re: Not logged in - ezdays - 05-25-2011 Gary S Wrote:Thanks for the replies.Your ISP should not be able to reset your cookies. You may have something that is automatically doing that, maybe some sort of plug-in????? I don't know what browser you're using, but I'm using Firefox 4.0, but you should be able to check your cooking in any browser. Try this, when you log in, go find your cookies, mine are under, "tools/options/privacy" and click on "show cookies". There should be an entry "the-gauge,net" and several sub-entries under that. I haven't a clue as to what they all mean, but they are there and each one has an expiration date of at least two months away. When you get locked out and have to re-log in, go look at those cookies again and see if they're still there or if they show an expired date. |
