Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Steamtrains - 03-31-2011 I checked out the N-scale auction thread, but it's closed... Are there going to be more..?? Re: N Tour Car Pictures - ngauger - 04-01-2011 Yes, in the next few weeks.. Just keep watching the "New posts" (Link at top of page in dark blue bar) Re: N Tour Car Pictures - shaygetz - 04-05-2011 Arriving late tonight from Texas, Big Blue was spotted on a rather well protected siding, near the tank depot in Fort Polk. It took 10 pounds of boiled crawfish to be able to get this dim shot, but more are to come tomorrow as my intrepid company shutterbug is camped out at the gate... Re: N Tour Car Pictures - shaygetz - 04-06-2011 Presenting its journey through the Basic and Mostly Credible Railroad... ...better light...and camera...find our car just outside the National Guard Armory, the security necessary because rival forums cars are lurking about... ...passing over the town after loading up with crawfish to be shipped east... ...winding its way through the rather busy yard in Clayton... ...at $4 a pound, crawfish are a "hot load" with minimal switching...made all the more complicated by incompatible couplers and the limited motive power remaining to be swapped over... ...passing the gantry at Breaux Bridge... ...a bit too close... ...Indians!!!... ...the kids bidding it farewell with a touch of their own model work---yes, they have about 85% reign over the layout with very few restrictions. I apologize for the camera work as mine died just before the car arrived...awaiting final manifest. Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Ralph - 04-06-2011 Great to know Big Blue is so well protected! Fun shots! Ralph Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Sumpter250 - 04-07-2011 "...at $4 a pound, crawfish are a "hot load" with minimal switching...made all the more complicated by incompatible couplers and the limited motive power remaining to be swapped over..." We had that coupler discussion, as the car was being built, and decided to go with the truck mounted Rapido couplers, with the thought that trucks with couplers, could be swapped out far more easily, than body mount couplers. All of my N scale rolling stock, has body mount couplers. I have a pair of trucks with Micro Trains couplers, to make the swap ( if needed ) when the car is sent out to the winning bidder, after the tour is done. Enjoyed seeing the car's journey on the "Basic and Mostly Credible Railroad". I would hope that, in reality, at $4/lb.,those Crawfish were an Iced cold load. :o Re: N Tour Car Pictures - shaygetz - 04-07-2011 Sumpter250 Wrote:I would hope that, in reality, at $4/lb.,those Crawfish were an Iced cold load. :o The couplers made me realize just how many locs I had still to convert... Crawfish are shipped live around these parts...making for as hot a load as you can send...72 hours tops. Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Steamtrains - 04-07-2011 That's pretty busy yard..!! Good to see the li'l critter made it to Louisiana just in time to catch another load... Let's keep it running...!!! Re: N Tour Car Pictures - ngauger - 04-08-2011 Great pics Love the armory too Re: N Tour Car Pictures - shaygetz - 04-08-2011 Appreciate the kind words, guys...I'm kinda bummed that my camera croaked at such an inopportune time...alas, sigh, groan...I hafta admit that my boys el cheapo $29 camera did OK though... Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Lester Perry - 04-11-2011 It has safely arrived. Re: N Tour Car Pictures - ngauger - 04-12-2011 Great Les!! Enjoy it!! Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Lester Perry - 04-12-2011 You might recognize this. This is only the beginning. Re: N Tour Car Pictures - ngauger - 04-12-2011 Yup!! I recollect the "Big Ugly" news: Too Funny!!! Re: N Tour Car Pictures - Lester Perry - 04-16-2011 Well guys I lost my photos they disappeared into computer never never land. As you know I model HO, I got into the N tour because of a lack in participants. Man this thing is little. I might try to redo the photos tomorrow or Monday but not as much details involved. I really don't know how you guys do it. |
