For information, the British term for a Quonset Hut is Nissen Hut. In case you want to order one on the internet. here are at least a couple of British made models, both cast resin and kits.

We used to have one locally that was full of magnificent model railroad. Until the site was sold out from under them.

There are two entries in Wikipedia with a lot of information

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissen_hut">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissen_hut</a><!-- m -->
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quonset_hut">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quonset_hut</a><!-- m -->

The German word is "Nissenhütten" I remember them very well when I was little boy. They were used for German refugees from the eastern parts of the pre WWII German areas. Starting in the 1960s they disappeared or became low cost sheds for industrial use.

Needing storage tanks I got the assortment from Walthers. Not much to putting them togehter. Glue two halves togeter add some legs, paint, placards and dul-cote.

Mike, would you say that walthers kit is worth the money?

Yours are looking great, btw. Smile

Re: Nantahala Midland V 3.0 - Tyson Rayles - 01-12-2017

Daniel in N scale they were only $12 which to me seemed very reasonable. I don't have an HO Walthers catalog so I'm not sure what the price is in your scale.

Re: Nantahala Midland V 3.0 - danielb - 01-12-2017

That's not too bad actually. Over here they are hard to find, so the prices tend to be a bit OTT, plus then there's international shipping to consider...

I'm also modelling in N, btw. Smile

Re: Nantahala Midland V 3.0 - Tyson Rayles - 01-13-2017

I saw you were building a HO building so I wasn't sure which scale you were asking about.

Re: Nantahala Midland V 3.0 - danielb - 01-17-2017

Aye, I've got N scale, HO and O scales, but only a layout in the first 2. Smile

Moving on to the warehouse now. I shortened the kit to fit my space and flattened the roof to look more like the buildings we have around here. Also changing the color of the brick and doors and windows. Where there are missing windows I'm thinking of boarding those up. Still have to add window glazing, a foundation/loading dock, roof details and ....................... :hey: 2285_

I have to agree. I like the collection of tanks above too!

Thanks Ralph!

Re: Nantahala Midland V 3.0 - Tyson Rayles - 01-24-2017

There was some stone wall pieces that came with the kit. After I shortened the building the original base no longer works so I hope using these pieces and a piece of foam I can make a new foundation. Also found some letters in my spare parts bin that maybe I can use to put the name of the company on the side of the building with.
