I am having surgery on my right shoulder tomorrow morning. I will be loosing the use of my right arm for about 6 weeks. As many of you know I lost the use of my left arm in 07. This means I can't use my computer or many other things. OH NO
I WON'T BE ABLE TO RAILROAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!! or drive,eat or play with my grandson

I wish you the best and for a quick recovery. I had both shoulders worked on, fortunately, not at the same time so I at least had the use of one arm while the other healed. Not having the use of either for six weeks is not something that I'd like to have happen. Good luck....

I also hope the surgery goes smoothly & that you'll have a very fast recovery. Maybe you could get someone to help with your computer use as well as MRR? That is, maybe you could give instructions to a friend or colleague, who would be willing to help? Just a thought!
My Dad used to do this for an elderly man who was a live steam modeller. When this elderly man's eyesight deteriorated to point where he could no longer model, my Dad would visit him -- he would then "use my Dad's eyes" to do his modelling while he gave him instructions!

Well the surgery went very well, the doctor said there was much more damage than he thought. I was told that I would have 5 or 6 weeks of extreme pain, I am waiting for it to start. I will just be open about this. Much prayer was offered up over this,I mean sincere prayer from many Christian friends. If you don't know Jesus as your personal savior you don't know what you are missing. Please PM me if you want to know more.

Les; Glad you made it past the "adjustments"...may you need further...and tell the Doc you'd just as soon skip the 6-weeks-of-pain stuff, too.
Relax (as much as you can), stick with the Doc's program, and we'll all be lookin' for your full recovery and return.

Please PM me if you want to know more.Les, it's good to see you got through the surgery and that at least you can function well enough to get a message to us. As I said, I've been through this twice and yes, it's a good six weeks before they allow you to use that arm, and still another couple of months of physical therapy to get it strong again, but there's some pain after the anesthesia wears off, but that seems to diminish within a few days, you just need to keep your arm immobile for a few weeks to let things heal and you don't tear anything loose. I hope the best for you and that the pain does subside quickly.
One trick I used was to sleep on the couch. I was able to use the back for support to keep me from moving around and stay on my good shoulder. If you sleep in a bed, you had the tendency to roll around, and that's not good. They also say that sleeping on a recliner works, but I tried both and the couch worked just fine.
