Goose Fest 2012 Colorado Railroad Museum - porthos - 06-17-2012

The Colorado Railroad Museum tried to bring all the Galloping Geese together this weekend. Unfortunately #3 dropped out at the last minute. The other six all made it though. The museum owns No.s 2, 6 & 7. No. 4 made the trip from Telluride CO and No.5 made the trip from Dolores CO. The replica of #1 was also present (the original was used for the parts to build the work Goose, No. 6).

We've nearly scheduled a stop at the museum for our September trip. Will the geese be running any time then? The web site doesn't give any times for then.

They operate something on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Could be steam, a goose or even a diesel. I would contact the museum directly to see if they have a schedule for September.

So I went ahead and contacted the museum to satisfy my own curiosity and I received a reply from them today:

We will be operating rides on Galloping Goose No. 7 Saturday June 23 & 30, July 7 & 28, August 4, 11 & 25, September 1, & 29. We will operate "Ride the Rails Events on Saturday July 21 and August 18, 2012.
On July 14, 2012 we will run either a steam locomotive or Galloping Goose for optional train rides during the day and we will operate the Wine & Music Train Fundraiser that evening with a steam locomotive.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 60 and up, $5 for kids 2-15, under two is free. We also offer a Family Pass up to two adults and up to five kids under 16 for $20. Galloping Goose rides are available for $4 for adults and $2 for kids 2-15, under two is free (members receive free admission and a $1 discount per ride ticket.
On the "Ride the Rails Saturdays" admission increases but includes unlimited rides. The event ticket price is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 60 and up, still just $5 for kids 2-15, under two is free. Our Family pass still covers up to two adults and up to five kids under 16 for $30. Museum members receive free rides and admission.
We will know one way or another if steam will operate during the day on Saturday July 14, 2012.

Thanks, Porthos. We have cousins to visit in Colorado Springs and I'm trying to see what all will work as we won't be in the first week or the end of the month. My wife has a fascination for the GGs.
