Don't park your loco in a bad neighborhood! - Ralph - 10-07-2012

Actually this locmotive that pulled a now defunct tourist train was dumped in this parking lot after plans to move it to another location fell thorough. Now it is a subject of dispute between the owner and the city...and there it sadly sits. The six passenger cars that made up the train have been moved but their temporary location is also a problem.

Stillwater IS a bad neighborhood! Big Grin That's too bad. I never did have the pleasure of taking a dinner cruise on that train. Maybe they could park it on the lift bridge! On a side note, my aunt lives in Stillwater and we visit frequently. I'm looking forward to shopping downtown without the thru traffic. Too bad for the people that live just over the bridge in WI! :|

I remember driving around NYC years ago and seeing the same thing, cars without wheels alongside of the roads and in dirt lots just like this. You can't trust anyone anymore. 357 357

Right, the closed lift bridge really does cut down on the traffic. We were there Saturday for the annual art fair (coffee was the main seller...it was pretty chilly!) and found it easy to drive through town and park.

It wasn't me. Really. I just took the engine for a joy ride. I didn't steal the trucks.

By the way, is anyone interested in a pair of EMD Blomberg trucks? I got some really cheap. I know some people that know some people that robbed some people. But that story is for another time.

What's sad is that its fate is unknown. There are a lot of operating railroads that could use it, The Verde Valley RR here in Arizona runs them. It's heartbreaking to see vintage equipment just left to rot and rust.

Is it anything other than an empty hulk?

The town may decide to take it for the scrap value.

I believe it retains all of its innards. I think the owner has hopes of a sale sometime.
