Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - mountaingoatgreg - 06-17-2013 Well I failed miserably on the last challenge so I am going to pick somethign a little less ambitous, and a little further along. I started working on an undecorated American Crane that will be decorated for the Great Northern Railroad. I really have no paticular need for this crane but I thought it would be an interesting model and I think i picked it up for $9.99. So far I have finished the main detailing and basic paitning, I need to finish the cab interior detailing, finish the detailing of the boom, and string it up. I can then decal and weather the unit. Once this project is done I may tackle a flatcar but one thing at a time. Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - BR60103 - 06-17-2013 Yes, get some experience before you tackle the flatcar. Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - Tyson Rayles - 06-17-2013 Looking good so far. Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - mountaingoatgreg - 08-23-2013 Tick Tick Tick...time is running out...... Hey I may actually finish this project Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - Ralph - 08-24-2013 Looks great! Nicely weathered! Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - faraway - 08-24-2013 The weathered orange looks absolute realistic! Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - Tyson Rayles - 08-24-2013 Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - mountaingoatgreg - 08-24-2013 Thanks guys I am very happy with the overall look of the model. I was able to add the air hoses today and work on some of the final details. I need to finish the boom detail and weathering then I can add the glass and string the cables. I did start on a flat car for the boom to rest on. It will not be finished by next weekend but it will help me in positioning the boom. Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - mountaingoatgreg - 09-01-2013 I think I may be done... ' Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - faraway - 09-02-2013 That looks great indeed and the background fits the crane perfect Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - ngauger - 09-02-2013 Looks Great!! I like the scenery too! Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - Charlie B - 09-02-2013 From an item you didn't particularity need to a very essential piece of railroad machinery. A very fine job. definitely 2 thumbs up. Charlie Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - e-paw - 09-02-2013 looks good there Goat. What did you use for the background scenery? Re: Mountaingoatgreg Orphan Challenge - mountaingoatgreg - 09-02-2013 Thanks everyone for the great comments!! The background is a Free-mo module I built depecting a piece of the Deschutes River Canyon in Eastern Oregon. I built it with using it as a photo backdrop in mind due to the cliff face and colors. It really lets the colors of the rolling stock shine and will look even better when I get the rest of the modules completed.
