I love my trackmobile, I just wish it had a front coupler.

I got mine some month ago but never used it due to extreme poor pulling power. Even a single Atlas covered hopper was to much to pull. I got the little beast of the cabinet today and put some weight on the roof for testing and the pulling power increased enough to pull the hopper on the photo.
The cab is the only enclosure that has sufficient room for lead weight. I taped the windows black and filled the cab with weight. It is now a black box Sad but at least a useful puller Smile

ps. The screws covered by street wheels hold the drive in place. Remove the four street wheels first. The other four screws hold the parts of the cab to be removed in the next step.

I know that these things don't have the greatest strength, but I was able to get three cars moving without too much trouble as long as they rolled well.

How heavy is your hopper?

Re: FDT Trackmobiles are back ! - faraway - 04-03-2014

The hopper is about 4oz. A center beam of 6oz can be pulled with the weight too. Two boxcars each of 4oz is still not possible. All mentioned cars are new, have steel wheels and from good brands (Atlas, ExactRail etc.).

I opened it today again and stuff more lead into the cab. The weight is now up to 4.5oz and two hoppers can be pulled. That is ok for the intended use.

sorry for the lousy focus

The short wheel base length of the road wheels must make track mobiles very bouncy 2285_ and a lot of forward pitching when braking.
Definitely not the sort of vehicle to be driving with open beverage containers and definitely not open alcoholic ones. Cheers

There are some pretty good examples of bouncing Trackmobiles on YouTube.
