I'm back at modeling again!
Since my new girlfriend works for the corporation that owns the Winchester & Western Railroad, I thought it would be cool to have some rolling stock decorated for the W&W.
Intermountain does make a ACF Center Flow lettered for the W&W, but try finding one available was like pulling teeth that had already been pulled.

But trying to find a two bay Center Flow was just as bad as finding the Intermountain model. So I the only choice I could find was an Atlas Three bay. This one started out as an Alaska RR.
   
Using modelers license, I made up my own reporting marks, but used the example for decal placement. The lettering is "dice and splice". I have ACF specific decals on order from Microscale.

Nice job on the covered hopper. Too late now I guess, but Oddballs custom decals makes decal sets for them in two different styles: http://mopac1.tripod.com/oddballs3.htm#WW

Here's a couple WW photos I shot in Gore, VA, back in July 2010. I shot one of their covered hoppers while I was there, but can't find the darn photo! I know it was a three bay hopper, but not built by ACF (perhaps Trinity?). Here's Geep No. 498 (love that simple black/yellow paint scheme)     But if you want something REALLY unusual to represent the WW - how about this slug?     I don't know a thing about this strange creature, but it rides on EMD Blomberg trucks, has hoods from an ALCo RS-11 and a cab that is either homemade or came from an EMD switcher. Sure would like to know if this is still in use. While we were in Gore, there was no one around the shop to ask about it.

That locomotive looks like one of RB's. He better get back home soon or his locomotives will be all over the country. Icon_lol

Proof there is a prototype for most anything.

This is one done with the Oddballs Decals, I have several sets left so if you need one let me know. Its an Intermountain kit painted with Polly Scale Sand which is a bit darker than the WW paint scheme.
I believe that the gray paint scheme is used on the WWUX cars(Unimin ,which owns Winchester and Western RR), but have noticed that lately that the WW two bay covered hopper cars are being relettered for WWUX.

Reference slug 120, it was a Conrail MT4 slug #1020. The Winchester and Western purchased it and renumbered to 120. It was used at their Bridgeton, NJ operation but wasn't suitable for the work, it was then sent to their Virginia operation. While there the cab was added and it became a cab controlled slug.

Thanks for the info Bruce. I've got an Atlas RS-11 sitting around here that I'm seriously thinking about converting to a slug as I've always liked those cut down RS-11 slugs.

What are the built/new dates on your 2 WW hoppers & what era are you operating in? The 3 bay has a COTS stencil (1972-1986). The 2 bay has a 3 part Consolidated Stencil (post 1986). I wonder if that was one of the slugs that worked the Oak Island hump over in Jersey. CR had a bunch of them that worked that yard right up to the NS/CSX split. They seemed to be there for ever,,I remember seeing them shoving cuts over the hump from back when I was a kid. Now NS has some of the same units from Oak Island working the Allentown hump (not far from my present day home). They seem to follow me around.
